I smell the Shit-Winds blowing, Randy
  • Man, I thought we were here for the greasy bulgogi picnic. We have North Kore-Andy-Bo-Bandy here pointing at art with his big ol’ naengmyeon-locker and friggin’ and Yuri Lahey over here, 3 bottles of Русски Стандарт deep stumbling around talkin’ about shit balloons. Jeeeezuz!

  • I wanted to be make fun of a such a privileged perspective in the title, thankfully the article is more balanced:

“Moll recognizes that climate change poses an existential threat to his ability to run outside—and that this passion in and of itself is a “luxury.”

“The environment and the health of our climate is so intertwined with the ability to run,” he told me, pointing out that many countries in the Global South are bearing the brunt of climate impacts. “Not everyone is afforded the material conditions to have a passion like ultra-endurance running.”

  • Proton VPN NetShield
  • I run proton w/ netshield in combination w/ ff focus as a default browser, with all blockers turned on, for general use. As others said about battery use, about the same as any other VPN. Turn off either netshield or blockers and it’s terrifying how many annoying ads are in the avg. site.

    > In a Victory for Poland Spring, Maine Rejects New Groundwater Limits > > The bottled-water company last year tried to kill legislation aimed at protecting aquifers at a time when many are at risk nationally. > > Maine’s Legislature voted down a bill that would have limited large-scale pumping of groundwater in the state. Poland Spring, the bottled-water giant, had lobbied aggressively against the measure. > > The proposal would have placed a 10-year limit on large-scale water-extraction contracts, a restriction that the bill’s supporters said would protect Maine’s precious groundwater at a time when water levels are falling across the country. It failed to pass on Thursday by a 21-to-12 vote in the State Senate. > > Poland Spring, a major presence in Maine, draws water from eight locations around the state to bottle and sell. It is trying to lock in a new contract of up to 45 years to pump water in Lincoln, a former mill town. > > BlueTriton — which owns Poland Spring and other major bottled-water brands, including Arrowhead and Deer Park — lobbied against the changes. Last year, The New York Times reported that the company wrote, and circulated among legislators, a proposed amendment that would have gutted the bill. > > Non-paywall link
