Fr though I have a chronic illness and internet connection sometimes fill a space that most irl connections can’t for some reason.

  • She’s rage baiting, don’t take any of her words seriously. Obviously she’s mean but she doesn’t care about that because she gains attention from it.

  • I love to make people feel comfortable in my home and I feel like taking off shoes helps with that because it makes a visit much more personal and homely for the guest. Shoes off is so much more comfortable, I don’t understand why anyone would want to keep their shoes on in someones home.

I live in a place where it’s abnormal to remove your shoes as guest but no one has ever complained.

  • I switched from pre paid to monthly payments for comfort, I would run out of data because I’d forget to buy more.

I do buy my phone and sim separately though. The people that buy their phone from their internet provider probably do it because they want an expensive phone but can’t pay in 1 go. In the end they pay more though.

  • Simple question: Are you a nice person?
  • Yes. I have a personality disorder that makes me want everyone to like me so I’m always nice (sometimes to the point of being flirtatious) to strangers and people that haven’t offended me greatly. Obviously it doesn’t work on everyone.

[Short Rant] I'm deeply uncomfortable when people take pride and comfort in being fetishized.
  • Sorry I wasn’t aware of the origin of that phrase and I removed the comment.

  • Very much relate with this and also with the relation to 196 made by sexundersocialism.

I think it’s similar to what others call ‘pick me’ behaviour (awful term), where an oppressed person appeals to the fantasies/expectations of the oppressor in order to get positive feedback.

It’s a bad thing and I think it’s good to tell people that their behaviour is harmful. But obviously it comes with the complex feelings and insecurities one has when they live as a minority so I would lay the blame mostly on the oppressors who pushed them in that direction.

  • Stop the Student Votes: Leaked Memo Exposes the Real Purpose of Voter ID
  • I’m assuming based on this article that a lot of British people don’t have a passport/government ID? In my country only those 2 and drivers license are sufficient to vote but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t carry either of those with them.

  • Why can't tankies understand the sophistication of Skibidi Biden? Could this actually make them less likely to vote?
  • Idk i thought skibidi biden was the funniest thing id ever seen after skibidy toilet. I wasnt gonna vote because i dont live in the us but now im trying to find ways to vote for him anyways. Maybe one of you non voting hexbears can vote in my stead?

  • fellow AFABs, were you punished for crying as a child?
  • Yes depending on the caretaker I was punished, ridiculed or ignored when I cried. (Maybe ignoring is also a form of punishment?)

  • Dutch student intifada update:

    Tuesday May 15:

UvA said they will no longer talk with any activists.

Eindhoven ended the encampment on Tuesday after the university board told them they will not meet any of the demands (????).

    Wednesday May 16:

Wageningen university set up an encampment!

Maastricht, Groningen and Nijmegen encampments are still there (day 3)

    Utrecht occupied another building.

UvA is closed until Thursday. The protests in Amsterdam keep going but no occupations/encampments. Today protesters are marching to Booking.com headquarters because a big event is happening there with 800 partners.

  • My first reaction to you was not meant to convey that I disagreed with you or intended to ‘clap back’, I was honestly hoping for a response that would point out where I was scolding people into being peaceful (which you now did and I’m grateful for that).

  • Yeah there is a summer break from July of 2 months for students (not for staff). However a lot of students are still studying during those 2 months because of summer schools, thesis or other projects outside of regular courses.

Honestly I would be surprised if the protesters keep the momentum going until July. But at the same time I also didn’t expect there to be any such protests at all so I find it very hard to predict how long they will last and if they will succeed in forcing the universities to break their ties with Israel.

  • There’s literally a group of right extremists who post their sabotage intentions on twitter and who wore those exact same clothes at the protest last week (and yesterday in another city). There are other people who use extreme forms of protest but I don’t single them out because they are actual protesters who are there for the same cause. I’m mentioning this group because they very clearly did not come there to protest against a genocide and were hostile towards the protesters. In the other instances they attacked protesters and destroyed the encampments so idk why you’re defending them.

  • Yeah that’s definitely possible. There is clear proof that there are undercover cops among the protesters. However, this particular group seems to have a lot in common with zionist/right extremist counter protesters we’ve seen before in Amsterdam but also in Groningen. On twitter/X there are small groups of right extremists who try to organise sabotage attempts to the protests. They all dress fully in black similar to the saboteurs yesterday.

  • Am I scolding people to stay peaceful? Personally I think provocation is definitely needed to make sure the protests don’t get ignored. But in Amsterdam there are clear signs of a very small group of people (as far as I can tell 4) trying to sabotage the protest. There is videos of them walking around the building and beating the shit out of every equipment there. They were very clearly not part of the protest because they were hostile towards everyone else that was present.

Edit: and the info about the barricades I literally got from the organisation itself. They did not want to escalate too much because of lack of medics, so they decided to occupy the building and use human chains instead of heavy barricades because in past protests barricades have proven to be used by police to create very dangerous situations.
