What distro do you use and why?
  • I started using linux seriously with Manjaro, but since I didn't know what AUR really was I fucked my system up (thank NVIDIA drivers for that). Then I switched to arch, learned everything I should have known on the arch wiki. So yeah, I use arch btw.

  • Remove the French language pack. Thank me later.
  • True, like the Brits and the Americans we're mostly to proud to learn a foreign language

  • Remove the French language pack. Thank me later.
  • This is not making fun of french people, but this might trick people who laugh at french people. That made me smile I must admit.

  • Remove the French language pack. Thank me later.
  • Although I'm French, I still laugh at the stupid memes by the English speaking internet that make fun of my people. Then again, there is a sense of justice in imagining people falling for this. 😁

  • Quick Question for which one to pick
  • Then again, the archlinux wiki and forums are the best places to get every kind of help a linux user might need. And this is true for every distribution, to some extent.

  • Sounds crazy till ya try it
  • Make me remember to gift you a catheter bag for Christmas. You'll see how great it is: a straw and diaper all in one!

    Sounds like a threat
  • I prefer the French Left take on the idea. They did a campaign awhile back titled: "The fascists are voting, are you?" With a big portrait of the most well-known far right politician in the country. In the end they had to pay a 3000€ fine but I'd say it was worth it.

  • Can you "grow" a human from 2 sets of same sex parent DNA?
  • For two females, you would have to implant one egg's DNA into a sperm whose DNA was "stripped out" And for two males, the same but transferred into an egg. I'd say it could be done in the near future with the progress we did with CRISPR in the last decade, for instance.

  • How do you battle depression by your own?
  • Telling myself: "There will be better days ahead". Repeating that motto in the darkest moments helped a bit. Reading the stories of people who experienced depression but pulled through. And lastly, keeping busy. It's not ideal, but doing anything that requires focus kept me from introspecting. And that ended badly generally.

  • What are the best games on F-Droid?
  • If you like Shattered Pixel Dungeon, there's also Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup on F-droid.

  • Any day now.
  • Foreigner here. Don't you guys have a green party?

  • Best mobile games with 0 microtransactions?
  • There's also a version of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup on mobile. Although the UI is quite clunky with the control and shift commands imported from PC. But the gameplay is more elaborate than Shattered Pixel Dungeon, I'd say.

  • Which one is you?
  • I feel mildly insulted. I use arch btw.

  • hey, did you know that the ocean would emit sulfur at 5C warming?
  • I'm already known as the stubborn environmentalist in my friend circle. I'm doing my part!

  • Owning a Car Is Less Important To Younger Generations.
  • I think it's a pretty universal trend as well, at least in developed countries. I think I remember hearing it's the same trend in Germany, which is a country with a historicaly strong car culture like the US. But I don't have a study to back that up.

  • “Communism doesn’t work”
  • Oh boy I'm no social democrat. A radical socialist if you prefer. You can have radical ideas like ending capitalism or taxing inheritance to 100% while still being for democracy and not being a revolutionary.

  • “Communism doesn’t work”
  • I consider myself a socialist/leftist and my primary concern right now is not to dominate the bourgeoisie. It's mainly to get them to stop tax evasion so we can fund our public schools and hospitals. And if they could stop voting for candidates who are in coalition with the far right that'd be nice too!

  • “Communism doesn’t work”
  • Well I'd say communism is a type of socialism, where the latter is the ideal to strive for a better society for everyone, to intervene to help those who cannot help themselves. Communism tries to achieve this goal by making the means of production into communal ownership. With the State enforcing strict wealth equality. But it's still socialism with economic inequality at the beginning but fair and strong wealth redistribution in the end: equity.

  • “Communism doesn’t work”
  • I'd even replace communism with socialism. Since it's also vilified in the US, but it's a broader term which is, to me, more relevant nowadays.
