This belongs in boringdystopia.
Smidge! Buy smidge. It works really well against a variety of biting things.
How well does the sigma lens work with the EF mount adapter?
Moving to Ireland. Better than the UK in almost every way.
I thought Fairphone would solve this for me, but the thing is too damn chonky.
- A general feeling of alienation from society. Particularly younger people.
- Dislike of ‘modern’ music.
- Nostalgia over the way things used to be as you have lived long enough to witness the enshittification.
This image gives me Subnautica vibes.
Codec support is a bit of a bummer. Otherwise I would have bought them.
Maybe they could have spent some of that money on Simplenote maintenance & development.
There is something strangely pleasing about watching house sparrows going about their lives. They lived in the roof of our old house. Almost felt like they were a part of the family. We've since moved & the new place has all the roof gaps either filled in or meshed off. Can't do anything about it as it's a rental.
I'd love to do this, but I used LinkedIn to find my current job, & I'll probably need it to find the next one (when the time comes).
I keep it up to date, like a kind of running CV, but otherwise I don't interact with it.
I used to, because I had a buggy TP-Link modem/router, & adding a cap was the only way that port forwarding would magically start to work. I have no idea why. The bug never got fixed.
Having recently migrated, the only things I miss from the UK are:
- Public right of way networks (country trails, etc)
- Slightly more stable weather
- Slightly cheaper coffee & chocolate
- Starling bank
Toxoplasmosis.
"Alien Isolation" is worth a try. It's very faithful to the original film. Should be available on PC, Xbox & PS. It can be a bit of a 'locker hiding simulator', but the suspense is good. If I was being critical I'd say it drags on a bit.
Thanks. I'll take a look in local shops when I get there.
Thanks. Will take a look.
What do people here do when wanting to take their phone with them when travelling to the US or Canada. It looks like I might need to take out a mortgage if I took my eir SIM with me & turned on data roaming.
Does anyone have any recommendations for eSIMs or anything else?
Was just thinking the same. A happy trip down memory lane. We used to do quad jump + low gravity + instagib. There was some capture the flag map that was great with these mods. I can't remember the name now though.
Up to now I've been using Simplenote, which has a Linux client (but also Android & iOS) & supports live collaboration on notes. However, Simplenote hasn't had a meaningful update for a long time, & it's recently been behaving strangely, e.g. notes undeleting themselves, line duplications & undeletions.
Can anyone recommend an alternative? Spinning up an ownCloud/nextcloud instance just to use Joplin feels a little overkill. I stumbled across turtl, but the project looks abandoned.
I'm shortly going to be migrating to Cork. I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of some 'left' or 'centre-left' online news sources for Cork. Preferably with RSS feeds.
What’s that bird? Just answer 5 questions, snap a photo, or record its song!

A lot of people probably already know this exists, but for those who don't, there's an awesome app that tells you what birds are around from their calls/songs. It's called "Merlin". You can also give it photos to ID. I usually leave it running in my pocket or hand while I walk around my local RSPB reserve.
Could someone give me a hand. I need help defeating the dragon near the "Crumbling Beast Grave" site of grace in Crumbling Farum Azula. I'm there now if anyone's bored.
Does anyone have any tips for defeating Alecto in the Ringleader Evergaol?
It might help a bit. I remember Infinity used to do this.
