I feel sad about the future

Today, I've been thinking about how the future may go, both in the United States and abroad.

Over the past decade (or so), I've seen an increased popularity of socialism and also support for equality type of projects. As an example,, despite the increased segregation policies of queer people, they are largely supported by people around my age (I am now 25 years old).

Meanwhile, the hatred amongst American conservatives for brown people (especially Hispanics) has increased, such as kicking them out of their communities and individuals shooting at people immigrating from Mexico (as they're around the border).

Needless to say, there is a large-scale movement against us and people friendly towards us, both in America and in foreign countries. There are people that not just want to discriminate and dominate other groups, but want to eliminate them. While these people are not really in the seats of power, things could change, as history has shown.

Obviously, I hope to see the mergence of a world order based around general equality and kindness. I just feel sad knowing that there are (very well-funded) forces that are against that and there are at least parts of them that, if given the appropriate power, could do things that might exceed the past's atrocities.

"The poors are already have shitty lives, why help them now with stimulus checks?"
  • I remember a high school class back in 2015 where we watched Ramsey clips and he said that if you go to the store, you should try to negotiate down the price by showing the cashier and/or seller that you have cash on you.

  • In all fairness, he's not wrong.

To a lot of people, getting the one-time check of $1,400 or less could help pay a couple rent or mortgage payments, buy some gas or buy some food, but they are kicking the proverbial can down the road.

Of course, I imagine that me and him come to different conclusions at this point.
