  • I dunno about Solo, it would have artificial flavours and colours in it so you wouldnā€™t really get the same flavour from fresh lemons. But an alternate idea, you could look up recipes to make lemon cordial. Then mix with soda water to make a fizzy lemonade drink. Delicious!

  • For everyday I like the bonds with the cushioned soles. They come in different heights (low, crew etc). Seem to be on sale at least once a month. The colesworth underworks brand is similar. Not as thick like tradie socks, but thick enough that they donā€™t get holes easily. For thin dress socks, I find cotton more durable than bamboo.

  • Itā€™s still in the cinemas so thatā€™s probably why. Iā€™ve noticed this strategy recently where the release to cinema and rental overlap. For a family, $30 would be cheaper than cinema tickets so maybe thatā€™s the target market. Wait a month and itā€™ll be the normal price.

  • Had a moment today where a modern life tech thing baffled me (online access type thingy), and I got frustrated (eventually solved it). Iā€™m not that old but Iā€™m not young either. It used to be utterly effortless to keep up with the latest life admin requirements, but am finding that occasionally I now feel out of the loop. Is this the tip of the iceberg? I donā€™t want it to be. I donā€™t want to age and become useless at new stuff that comes out. I Do. not. like. It.

  • I believe my dog used to do it when he felt sick. I am deducing this because I spent a lot of time outdoors with him, and he never ate grass as a regular thing. Didnā€™t interest him. But on the rare occasion he did, he would soon puke and wouldnā€™t be very active. I canā€™t really know for sure what he was feeling but I am assuming he felt sick in his stomach and some deep dog instinct told him to eat grass to help him spew up?

  • Dreaming having nightmare about poison butterflies that bite and it hurts when they bite, and when you catch them and throw them at the ground they turn into slime that then turns into mold. Thanks brain. WTF did that come from.

  • Sometimes is stare into the pantry looking for snacks. But Iā€™m the one that does the shopping so I should know whatā€™s in there. I guess Iā€™m hoping something will magically appear or that I have forgotten something my past self bought.

  • Daylight saving has 80% support in Australia and a majority in every state
  • Of course it doesnā€™t generate extra time, thereā€™s still 24 hours a day. What is does is adjust for the earths orbit and tilt, which means that seasonally we can have daylight during the regular working hours. The nice consequence is that there is more daylight hours in the evening. You must have a very generous employer who lets you change your working hours based on the seasons when you want to do evenings activities!

  • Slip slop slap if you need to. But also, Iā€™m in Melbourne so itā€™s good to have evening daylight. I think because Australia is so huge the effect of DLS is very different across the latitude. Itā€™s good in the southern states.

  • Daylight saving has 80% support in Australia and a majority in every state
  • I think you misunderstand daylight savings? Setting the clock back means daylight happens earlier in winter. For example, in Melbourne tomorrow sunrise will be at 6:40am. If we were still on daylight savings time, it would be at 7:40am, so still dark when a lot of people are getting up to go to work and commuting. And due to the way the earths orbit works, sunrise will get progressively later until the winter solstice. I definitely prefer having the winter sunrise earlier, so am happy the clocks go back to regular time. And in Summer, itā€™s nice to have the extra daylight in the evening instead of crazy early.

  • I enjoy the longer evenings in Summer and having the sun up at and earlier clock in winter. Iā€™m not sure why some people hate it so much. Most people have smart phones and electronic calendars that update automatically and everything just works, no input needed. A genuine question for people who donā€™t like it, why not? What specifically is bothersome?

  • Lawyers in uproar over order not to discuss Israel-Palestine
  • Ridiculous. I can only think of 2 scenarios which would have led to this. One, there was a conflict between some employees and they are want to avoid further conflicts. But there are already laws against discrimination and workplace bullying. Banning the topic outright is lazy. Or two, someone in management has strong opinions and canā€™t handle hearing an opposing view. Either way, management are being toddlers.

Also Iā€™m no lawyer, but would this even be legally enforceable? Can an employer really ban topics of conversation at work?

  • Which Australian recipe sites do you recommend?

Looking for inspiration. Which Australian food sites, bloggers, youtube, social media do you frequent? The places you go for ideas and recipes. I love Nagi (recipe tin eats), and occasionally browse Taste and SBS food. What are some others to look at?
