    🤔

  • Patrick Breyer and Pirate Party lose EU Parliament seats
  • Rothschilds are diamonds and other crap,

    It's the Australian Rupert Murdoch

Although him and a Lord Rothschild have been involved in some fuckery with oil in Israel

I think the correct answer is some billionaire

  • How bad is Microsoft?
  • Consider this; you were taught Microsoft <product> in school as it's used in work environments, Microsoft <product> is used in work environments as it's taught in schools or the person making the decision was only taught one product.

Why do you think Microsoft is giving free upgrades from windows 10 to 11, same thing from XP upwards. It's vendor lock in, and that's bad for many reasons

  • [QUESTION] How do instances that use platforms such as Lemmy send verification, password reset, etc. e-mails? Do they use SMTP or some external service that provides an API?
  • I'll counter the other comments. It's not any more difficult to maintain than any other service. What is a pain is the spam, and as I run it for a business the users. The biggest problem I have is other mail servers been incorrectly configured for SPF, DKIM and dmarc , usually it's things like external billing platforms that have been integrated incorrectly by customers and suppliers. Spam is now starting to come though with all the proper headers for SPF and DKIM

  • iFixit is breaking up with Samsung. ‘Samsung’s approach to repairability does not align with our mission,’ says iFixit’s CEO.
  • I think it's more if you want to replace one you have to replace both, and if you don't glue the battery to the screen the phone will fall apart, that's what I'd do if I was an evil corporation and wanted customers to buy a new phone instead of repairing

  • My (20F) colleague (60sF) is a workplace bully, what do I do?
  • My wife hates been called "luv" mainly old dudes that think they are been nice, so she calls them luv back. Maybe someone needs to be greated every morning with with a nice big smile and a good morning flower.

Also if the getting left on your own for a smoke break when busy happens, just go for a smoke break with her, or be on your phone and say something like "I don't know where Sarah went she just disappeared, oh wait I've found her outside having a smoke break, do you want me to tell her to come back inside"

As it's a uni job it's now your mission to wind her up as much as possible, don't worry about bad references or CV gaps if anything goes wrong.

    Also look up constructive dismissal

  • Is a sound level of 105 decibels for a few seconds enough to rupture a person's eardrum?
  • No not a few seconds. Ever walked near a jackhammer 130dB in the street for a few seconds? That is significantly louder. In general anything over 85dB for a significant amount of time causes damage. Concerts top out at around 110dB and you don't see people popping eardrums there.

However if you have an ear infection so some other type of damage then maybe?

I read Texas so I'm going to assume it was due to shooting guns

  • What rollercoasters have you ridden, and what are some of your fondest stories of riding them?
  • Well shambhala at portaventura, spain. I tried the seat in the queue and fit fine, mainly to show the kids how the restraints work, it clamps your thighs on to the seat, no upper body. On the actual ride the leg restraint was a lot tighter, so much so that I couldn't tense my muscle to move my leg, started getting numbness by the time it was over. Great rollercoaster, epic views, shame I couldn't ride a second time.

  • The west should not protect merchant ships from Houthi drone attacks in the Red Sea.
  • I think you are not understanding how global shipping works, the ship could be owned by company in country A, hired by company in country B, under the flag of country C, cargo owned by country D, crew from country E, F and G or any random mix of everything.

Also the vast majority of goods to Europe goes through the red sea, and Suez canal. Remember what happened last time shipping stopped going through the Suez canal. It directly effects the economies of Europe, which most countries are NATO, so you could say it's an attack on NATO country, which is article 5 of the treaty, and the only time article 5 has been invoked, was the 9/11 attacks, which led to a 20year(?) war. So maybe there is some interest in not letting it get that far again
