IMO The Best Thing about the Fediverse is...
  • I fully expect mass posting like that will be the norm on Lemmy, even more than it was on Reddit. Now instead of a handful of subreddits that cover similar context, there are also a handful of communities on here with literally the exact same name. As annoying as it is to see a bunch of duplicate posts in my feed, I can't say I blame users for doing that when communities are often fragmented here.

  • PlayStation Project Q leak offers a very rough look at the handheld in action
  • Yeah... Even then, it basically just uses a PS5 controller with a tablet in between it. If someone likes the controller here, they can use literally any other PS5 controller. They can't even use the argument that it's more portable when it's a hefty 8" tablet lol. What a strange device...

  • Why do people tend towards the most extreme expressions when describing things?
  • This is a phenomenon known as group polarization or attitude polarization. This occurs in person as well. It's just what happens when people of similar opinions get together --especially groups that don't know each other very well. There are numerous theories explained in detail on Wikipedia though.

Perhaps it's more common online since the internet allows people to connect with just about anyone worldwide. People are able to find communities for even the most niche of topics, and online communities have a tendency to become echo chambers.

  • [MEGATHREAD] What did you buy in the Steam Summer Sale?
  • Great list, and I appreciate the short summary for each game. I'm definitely sold on Shogun Showdown now, but I better wait a bit to get it since it's not discounted and I bought enough games this sale already lol.

  • Finding the right gaming chair
  • I have a 2022 Secretlab Titan and I've really enjoyed it for the 2 years I've used it. It's sturdy and can adjust to whatever sitting position I need at the moment which is exactly what I need as someone who is always adjusting their sitting position. They're on the stiffer side but it's not uncomfortable, at least once you break it in within a month.

I have to say though -- despite them actually getting a decent amount of praise for their adjustable lumbar support, I can't imagine them being better for your back than a high quality used office chair like many other people already suggested. So it really just depends on what you want to prioritize.

I wouldn't suggest a used Secretlab since their warranty is only 3-5 years depending on if buyers showed it off on social media or not, so if you're buying it new vs a used premium office chair, both would roughly cost the same at around $500.

Anyway, if you have any other questions about the chair, feel free to ask!

  • Are you replacing Reddit with Lenny?
  • I'll be honest - as much as I hate u/spez after everything that happened in June, I would probably still be using Reddit if not for them outright killing third party apps. Losing Reddit is Fun was one thing, but I will never downloading the official app.

So yeah! Lemmy here we come. Hopefully the community continues to get livelier as time goes on.
