Elon Musk cannot keep Tesla pay package worth more than $55 billion, judge rules
  • This is a wild story.

    Analysis from 2018 here:

    https://corpgov.law.harvard.edu/2018/05/22/elon-musks-compensation/

So when they gave him this, Tesla was worth about 60 Billion. They said if you ~10x the company, well give you what amounts to roughly 10% of the company in stock. Regardless of what part he played, or what stock price says about company value, at it's height in 2021 Tesla was worth 1 trillion, overshooting the most ridiculous targets by almost 70% (the worth at that point would have been 17x what it was in 2018).

On the one hand, it's just all so ridiculous that I don't think anyone saw that actually happening, which is probably why they voted for it. On the other hand, I'm glad he lost it because the sooner Tesla != Musk the better and this feels like a decent wedge for driving that separation. I wonder if this means they have to adopt a revised compensation plan or something.

My Tesla app now has permanent ads at the top every time I open it.
  • On a Tesla, you can use the wallet card, phone app, or a key fob. The wallet card comes with the car, but if you want a key fob you have to buy it separately. The app is free and does not require a subscription.

GM's OnStar + app on the other hand...yikes.

    Electric car rule
  • The cheapest Tesla Model 3 is $38K and does 0-60 in 5.8s There definitely cars under 38K slower than that. Hell even the Nissan leave does 6 something I think.

    The 2023 Performance Model 3 is ~50k, 0-60 in 3.1s The 2023 Toyota GR Supra is ~50K: 0-60 3.7

Also the $120K model S plaid was the fastest production car on the planet for a while too. I think there's a few new multi million dollar supercars that beat it now.

  • Showed to my DM, I think he now has it framed
  • if they're int/dex/str, I make them roll a wisdom check to see if they do something impossibly stupid.

if they're wis or cha, they roll deception against themselves with disadvantage. It's excellent seeing a character literally deceive themselves into doing something dumb.
