Cable lobby and Republicans fight proposed ban on early termination fees / Customers should be allowed to cancel cable TV without penalty, Democrats say
  • Actually, quite the opposite.

I believe that in general the economy should be left free, but not in cases of extreme recession or inflation (ex. Right now). In fact, that's basically one of the three reasons the federal government was established; to establish a common currency and economy, to regulate mail, and to solve disputes between states.

That being said, a private company should be able to run their business how they want to run it without being told off by a government.

    Edit: Clarified wording.

  • Pluralistic: "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing"
  • An associate of mine defines stealing as, "taking (either by cloning or removing) something (either digital or physical) of which is not of your original possession"

If anyone has a rebuttal, please help.

Edit: What's with the downvotes? I'm on your side.

  • Democrats urge tech companies to contain abortion misinformation
  • The only "health risk" there is in abortions is making a biological system function incorrectly. Even if the mother is in danger, there are many other solutions than termination (C-Sections for a start).

And, let's just say it's okay for rape/incest, those only account for about 3% of abortions (feel free to fact-check me on that).

The only "misinformation" here is pro-choicers trying to silence pro-lifers trying to fight for what they believe in.

  • What is the general consensus on Zello?
  • Thank you for the suggestions, I will be sure to check them out.

Also, my intention was not to be hostile. I made that comment out of the facts the other comments that were made at that time presented, in which were saying the pros of FOSS, and Zello should not be trusted because of it's closed-source nature. Somewhere in there my tone must have gotten misinterpreted.

Again, I apologize to anyone who read my comments as an act of hostility, as that was not my intention.

  • What is the general consensus on Zello?
  • I wasn't asking if FOSS can be trusted, I was asking if Zello can be trusted. The general consensus judging by the comments so far is an astounding no, by nobody has really provided any good alternatives with similar functionality.

  • What is the general consensus on Zello?

I understand that Zello is not FOSS, but their website claims everything is end-to-end-encrypted.

So, in short, should/can it be trusted? If not, are there any good FOSS alternatives that provide similar Walkie-Talkie like functionality?

Montana Judge: TikTok ban likely a 'fundamental constitutional violation'
  • Why are conservatives always seen has fascists? Even if they do things liberals/progressives hate why the extreme name calling?

Edit: I think it's funny that I can't ask a simple question without being down voted.

  • How are personal websites actually helpful for private expression?

So, this might seem like a stupid question on face value, but I'll go further in detail.

Everyone talks about getting a personal website so you can freely express yourself without getting beaten up by typical Social Media companies. While I fully agree with that, there are a few issues I have thought of:

Firstly, (assuming self-hosting isnt an option) won't you have to use google or AWS to host your website? And if you post something "they don't like", nothing is stopping them from just ban-hammering your website.

Secondly, even if you get a stable host, getting a domain is a completely different issue with the same causes; they could just revoke your domain if, again, you say something "they don't like".

With all that being said, would anyone have any remedies for these issues? Are there any privacy/free-speech respecting web hosts and domain suppliers?

Thank you for your responses! :D

Linux Distro For Use On A Flash Drive

School is starting up soon, and I want to install a stable distro to a 64GB flash drive that i own will remain stable while booting onto at least 2 computers (my home PC for maintenance and my School laptop for, well school).

I was thinking of just using Debian, but wasn’t sure if it would work well in terms of compatibility with my requirements.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
