Survey: 73% of Amazon workers are considering quitting after 5-day in-office mandate
  • It’s not an apples to apples comparison. The fact is that many Amazon employees can make 25-50% more, with better work-life balance, better benefits, a less toxic environment, and the ability to work from home.

  • Large Majority of Americans Want to End Electoral College
  • I feel like it would be more realistic to repeal the Apportionment Act of 1911. At the very least, it would correct the massive inequality in congressional apportionment. It would also increase the number of electors in the largest states, which would mostly benefit democrats.

  • Teens Say Trump’s Former Personal Aide and Project 2025 Higher-Up Made Them Uncomfortable in Chats
  • Yes, it’s a reference to George Papadapolous, a national security adviser to Trump who had extensive contact with the Russians, including working on setting up meetings between Trump and Putin. He was then caught lying to the FBI about these contacts. When the news came out, Trump dismissed his one-time advisor as a “low-level coffee boy.”

  • Trump's campaign adviser said to be 'openly angling for his next job' on Ted Cruz's team
  • As odious and obnoxious as Cruz is, let’s face it: he’s running for state-wide office in Texas. I don’t want him to, but he’s pretty likely to win.

LaCivita is probably looking at some internal polling for DJT that looks pretty terrible. He’s probably figuring that if he bails out now, he can avoid having a loss on his resume, and also gain a win.

  • What's the catch with these types of giveaways? (TP-Link camera giveaway)
  • Is it the additional data you give them to enter the giveaway?

Basically. You’re telling TP-Link that you’re a business that’s interested in selling their products. In return, their Sales team now has your information and can pester you tell you all about the latest TP-Link products.

Additionally, they’re putting their products directly in the hands of customers who could become even bigger customers. If you, as a company, decide you like the product, then you’re probably going to buy more of said product.

Finally, TP-Link is being selective about who gets the freebie—they’re not just handing them out willy-nilly. From the fine print:

Offer valid only for SolutionX partners. One Insight S445 (2.8mm) camera per qualified SolutionX partner. Approval is required, and TP-Link reserves the right to verify applications

So there’s probably some sort of “legitimacy threshold” you have to clear in order to get the goodies.

  • Raskin, Beyer, Welch Bill Would Bring Ranked Choice Voting to Congressional Elections Across America
  • Everyone on the left who complains about the lack of choice in elections should take note of which party these three politicians are from.

I assure you, Republicans are happy to let first-past-the-post and two-party rule continue until they’re finally able to seize all the levers of power. The only feasible way to give third parties any power whatsoever is to take your medicine and vote for Democrats.

  • Why shouldn't I use this motherboard to build a router?

This Topton-brand mini-ITX motherboard on AliExpress seems like a pretty decent choice for an Opnsense/Pfsense-based home router setup. It has four Intel 2.5gbe ports, an integrated 10W TDP CPU, and way more storage options than necessary for my use case.

However, I’m leery of just about everything from AliExpress. In this case, I assume security is probably a distant consideration after function and price point.

Am I being overly paranoid? Are products like this riddled with back doors and other exploitable components? Has anyone else out there built a router using this board?
