  • Fun fact: Redbox is operated by Chicken Soup for the Soul. I almost got hired by them but they screwed me over after I had already resigned from my previous position.

  • Price of blood?
  • For whole blood, I've only ever been given a t-shirt. For plasma alone though, it was purely dependent on your weight and, therefore, how much they can take from you in the one session. I'm a tiny dude who barely weighed enough to qualify and got about $80 a couple years ago. It's honestly not worth it at all, but if you're broke it's easier than many other options. The place was full of the "undesirables" of society because of that. It drained me emotionally, seeing how blatantly exploitative it is.

Edit to add: these plasma donations can be done with a tighter window between them too, so the people who were always short on cash were in there every 2 weeks.

Edit again: I forgot that that was an introductory deal where they give you an extra $40, so it was actually $40 for me. Overweight patients could get around $70-$80.

  • Zuckerberg disses closed-source AI competitors as trying to 'create God' | TechCrunch
  • They're only saying they're building a god in order to convince angel investors to keep pouring money into a new technology that has yet to prove that it can even so much as turn a profit on the queries they're being paid to process. Meta may not have embraced the AI hype as much as Google and Twitter, but let's not forget their stupid little stint just two years ago with the Metaverse. Maybe Zuck just has to tell himself he's not an evil antagonist from an action movie, it's those other guys!

  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – Announcement Trailer
  • I was disappointed thinking they were gonna re-use ALTTP's map again, but the previews they showed after the trailer actually made it look like a much more diverse world this time around, so I have hope.

  • Today, it has been 6 years since The Elder Scrolls 6 teaser
  • I'm replaying Starfield, and on my second playthrough, I'm noticing the depth they put into this game. Sometimes a single dialogue line you said days ago will have an effect on NPC attitudes through an entire side story. I'm not going to argue that it's not a regurgitation of their lame formula they've milked for the past 15+ years, but they do need to reevaluate where their money/dev time goes to.

  • Yeah, I don't know if they were concerned about people thinking they were being berated by animals constantly or what, but New Leafe was definitely the beginning of them sanitizing the villagers' attitudes. Wild World was my first AC game and I played it constantly for at least a year, but New Horizons lost my attention after two weeks.

Meta blocked a newspaper’s critical report about it on Facebook and its other social sites for hours, sparking a backlash that intensified after the company appeared to subsequently block links to the website of an independent journalist who republished the report.
