Different scaling on HiDPI monitor

When connecting the Steam Deck to a HiDPI monitor, I would like to have the scaling set to 150%. However, this scaling does also apply to the Steam Deck.

Is there a way to decouple the two scaling percentages in order to have 100% on the Steam Deck’s screen and 150% on the HiDPI monitor? Thanks.

Edit: Talking about desktop mode.

Docked in desktop mode or game mode?

Is the performance for docked games better in game mode or desktop mode? Let’s say CS:GO - would the performance (docked) be better in game mode (resolution set in properties to 1080p) or desktop mode (1080p)? Thanks.

How do you use your Steam Deck docked?

What Filesystem?

What filesystem is currently best for a single nvme drive with regard to performance read/write as well as stability/no file loss? ext4 seems very old, btrfs is used by RHEL, ZFS seems to be quite good... what do people tend to use nowadays? What is an arch users go-to filesystem?

Steam Deck & Apple Studio Display
  • Exactly, you wouldn’t even need a dock. Power, video signal, keyboard/mouse attached to the monitor, etc. should all work when connecting the Steam Deck via one USB-C cable to the Studio Display.

  • Games you didn't like but suddenly clicked
  • Same for me too. When I first tried Vampire Survivors I died so fast and didn’t understand what the fuzz was about. I simply uninstalled it. But after seeing some videos and looking at some guides (mainly about weapon combination), I give it another chance. This time, however, it clicked after combining some weapons as seen in the videos. Quite a funny game after that experience and it made me think about giving other games or genres a try.

  • Screen Tearing and PWM?
    • Does the Steam Deck use PWM for the screen? Does the screen flicker?
    • While gaming, is there some kind of screen tearing or is there some kind of VRR/Freesync being used? Otherwise, what settings do you use to avoid screen tearing (FPS locking, etc.)?

    Thanks!

    Switch to Linux phone?

I have been out of the loop for a while with the development of Linux/GNU based OSes on phones. However, with seeing how companies (like reddit) can change the rules as they wish, I want to see if completely switching to Linux is possible.

Long story short… what are the current phone providers that have Linux as an OS, or what is the best way to run Linux on an off-the-shelf phone?

As a side-question, is Nextcloud still the next best option for a complete service alternative to Google/iCloud?

    Thank you!

    New icon?

Could we get a new icon for the community that is maybe a square so that it is not stretched? Thanks mod :)

    As an example: https://cdn4.iconfinder.com/data/icons/logos-and-brands/512/240_Opensource_Open_Source_logo-512.png

    Help finding a server

Could somebody direct me to a server that has Collabora working, and maybe 1TB-2TB of disk space? Thanks.

The only thing I found is creating a dedicated instance on a cloud server like Hetzner (expensive and I would need to maintain it).
