Attempting to unsubscribe from a newsletter results in me being "temporarily blocked"
  • Most companies use a service to send their newsletters. You should be able to find the IP address from the email headers and then find the abuse email for that company. Email them, tell them you are unable to unsubscribe and their customer is thus sending you spam. Attach the email headers and 90% of the time they will take action (at least from my informal observation when I used to do this).

Those of you who are married, how do you go about privacy if your wife or husband does not care?
  • This is where I’m at. If I push it any more, she will turn off wifi on her phone and complain.

I’ve tried getting her to move to my hosted email instead of gmail, but she refused. She’s been wanting an Alexa speaker and even has the kids on board. That’s where most of my energy goes for picking my battles at this stage.

  • Private search engines.
  • I use DuckDuckGo at home, but at work it’s blocked. I’ve argued for it to be unblocked but to no avail. I use Startpage at work because it appears to have the same results as Google but also lets you view images anonymously when possible.
