You can absolutely use monero without converting it to other currency. You just haven't looked in right places. Of course you can't buy a loaf of bread with it, but you cannot use gold either, neither can you rent a server with something like mongolian togrog, yet, they're all still valid forms of currency.
It's not. I carry one(mix 3s) as a pocket laptop for when Im going out but might need to do some work urgently and also as a lightweight backup in case something happens to my main laptop. For the former, it's been great and saved me many times, but for the latter... this did once happen when I bonked the entire screen out. To say it was a painful week while waiting for the replacement would be an understatement. My back was killing me the entire time, and the thing is so underpowered it was easier to remote into that screenless pc rather than trying to launch stuff locally. And even with that, the thing whirred like crazy. It's fine for a few minutes at a time but hearing it sll fay got annoying quick. And dont even get me started on the keyboard...

I remember when I was tasked with fixing up a personal/work PC of my colleague who was our lead artist. I was a bit shocked to see WinXP there, when win10 was already the norm, and with quite a bunch of severely outdated software on it. At the time, I thought "well, at least it does the job well enough for him to be still employed". Now I understand that he was probably onto something...
Not really. 16 gigs is like the base amount of VRAM on the new 5xxx series nvidia GPU's, and you probably want more RAM than VRAM in your rig...

Ah so it's about the same-ish functionality as supergfxctl and system76-power it seems. For me I'm searching for more granular control. e.g. if I'm gaming with dGPU-primary I might want to move browser and such to iGPU to free up dGPU VRAM, or just to put it to lower power states because spinning this behemoth up for youtube videos seems inefficient. Otherwise, when I'm in iGPU primary, it sometimes misdetects when to activate the dGPU and chokes the poor little thing down or, again, spins up the dGPU needlessly.
Can it force apps to use iGPU when dGPU is on? It's one of the things I miss from windows and couldn't figure out on linux
Not really. As a programmer who doesn't deal with math like at all, just working on overly-complicated CRUD's, and even for me the AI is still completely wrong and/or waste of time 9 times out of 10. And I can usually spot when my colleagues are trying to use LLM's because they submit overly descriptive yet completely fucking pointless refactors in their PR's.

As a webdev I feel like the whole internet is dying. Everything is an app now, fully controlled by google, so privacy goes out the window, and none of it is searchable anyway as genAI made search engines toast. And everyone and their cat just seem go around blocking entire /8's willy-nilly breaking the whole global network concept... Does anyone have any tips which career path to switch to?
Prices are crazy, too. The key interest is at 20% and inflation is way over that as everyone expects rouble to crash as govt is printing bajillions to hand out to dead soldiers families.
