A reminder to love nature
  • Yes there are so many indigenous cultures (certainly every one I've learned about in Canada) that are literally about working together with the earth and in balance with the earth. Steve Irwin was a wonderful person but imagine all the wiped out or nearly wiped out cultures where this was or continues to be literally their way of existing in the world, and they were dismissed for so long as "savages" for their relationship with nature.

  • The US healthcare system is broken...
  • Yeah I have terrible allergies and went to a new doctor, he couldn't do much but I mentioned I use an over the counter nasal spray for $40. He's like oh, let me write you a prescription and now I get a prescription one for free in Canada. Too bad my allergy pills aren't covered though but those are still an affordable price at least.

  • I didn't know where else to ask rule
  • I don't have nuts so I don't really have a say in this but you could never get me to put Nair in the more sensitive parts of my genitalia. Ball skin is so thin and sensitive, I can't imagine that burn.

  • What.
  • Omg lol I didn't even know I could purchase stuff with the google home. I wouldn't anyway because that's silly to me but that's funny if you're right about it being their intent (I don't doubt that you are). I got my google home for free or very cheap with my music streaming account.

  • Can a diet that's good for the planet reduce your risk of dying from disease?
  • It's hugely dependent on a lot of factors but what I can say for sure that's helped for me personally:

    • having more locally sourced options like farmers markets and local butchers
    • not having to commute to work every day (the extra time and energy saved means I'm much more willing to cook something healthy)
    • a healthier work/life balance
    • making more money... Buying local isn't cheap.

I know veggies, even when they're not local, are cheaper than a lot of processed food but not when we're talking convenience and energy spent. Having the energy to prep and cook fresh produce, as well as a local market within walking distance have been the biggest factors for me.

I know I'm a pessimist but I feel like this is another one of those issues where we take the mask off and it's just that monster capitalism underneath.

  • Omg I guess I've been tricked. I had read that they were mostly in at least the US but now can't find any evidence to support that. Gotta do my homework better I guess.

There's one company that is making them that has customers all over north america but I guess it's not as common as I thought. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/plastic-sticker-produce-ban-alternative-1.6844972

  • Who is watching this?!
  • It really bothers me because I want to buy actual good quality stuff but I have no idea how to find it because I don't trust any reviews or anything on search engines at all really.
