  • I think I am near your age. I learned spreadsheets on Lotus 123 on DOS and programming with Microsoft Qbasic.

I have now learned to use libre software, like Qgis, Inkscape,Gimp, etc. It is the way to go, for resilience and for the world we want to leave to our descendants. I thinkfreecasd can be harder, but librecad is pretty similar to classic AutoCAD, if I am not wrong.

  • I thibk it's a good AutoCAD 2000 replacement

  • I have no idea It's just a vague feeling, not based in any experience whatsoever. What about resource usage?

  • I have the idea that friendica is kinda old/outdated... Am I mistaken?

  • Because of bandwagon effect. The more people use linux, then even more will. And itll get more support from software and hardware developers. And the world will be more free, safe, and not controlled by a big corp.

  • I still haven't found a web service that really needs a chrome browser or that you cant' just trick with changing the user agent

  • This should be done by default

  • Yeah but IMHO bridging whatsapp misses the point. We need people to start being aware and choosing conscious ethical pieces of software for the sake of humanity.

  • If it is a second hard drive... Probably the win bootloader is on the first still? Check bios boot options

Maybe its destiny telling you you can do it without windows

  • This. Barefoot shoes and never look back.

  • Mom, milk, life, love

  • For grandfathers nad mothers I personally install an inmutable distro. If they come from windows, KDE Plasma will probably be easier for them than gnome. So I would say Fedora Kinoite, but Silverblue Aurora is IMHO even best fitted for the case.

  • If you want something efficient and free of bullshit you probably first need to change your OS to a GNU/Linux distro

  • I think droid-ify already includes the repo.

  • Collabora office from f-droid app store First install f-droid or (better) droid-ify on your phone

  • If you are considering a hobby for your general well being and long term happiness, video games probably aren't your best bet. Learning a new language, a nusical instrument, a sport, an art or craft, meditation, etc.; could be much more fulfilling for your life. It is easy to invest too much time on video games without getting a considerable reward in terms of long term happiness.
