I agree, those countries have internal problems. Said that, when they talk about democracy most of the time they are talking about freedom of speech and clean elections. When you have millions of people complaining and political parties that want the independence it proves there is a lot of freedom.

There a many reasons, not just one. Imho it's related to the tourism (summer season), we have few industry (full time jobs all year), unemployment benefits are very generous (there are some jobs in agriculture that are done just by inmigrants from moroco with temporary visa, the landlords don't find Spanish people to work)
In Spain 6/10 citizens vote left or far-left parties. They don't change the vote even if the goverment does a bad job. They just hate the right for different reasons. The only way the rigth can win the elections is if most people who votes left don't go to vote.
Stats are manipulated. 3 years ago the government changed the name of the temporary job contracts to "discontinuous permanent worker". They are hired by a company but they only work few days or even few months a year. People with that kind of contract does not count as unemployed, even if they only work few days a year.
Most of the workers with that kind of contract want to work a full time job but they can't due to the high unemployment. The same as before but now the stats looks better.
You are rigth about HEIF, but most electronic devices already pay for the license to encode/decode HEVC.
The camera sensor returns raw images, then there is post-processong and the last step is encoding. There are no technical limitations and it's not hard to implement another image format. As other users commented, Google Pixel phones and some apps in Google Play already does. Btw I'm electronic + software engineer.
My conclusion is even if the new formats are better, JPEG is more compatible and good enough for most users. Some brands take care of power users and others don't. I'm a bit disappointed with OnePlus camera software.
Overture Maps Foundation is trying to collect enough data so that companies can build maps they own and operate rather than paying Google and Apple.
Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and TomTom have formed a group that will release data that could enable companies to build their own maps. The Overture Maps Foundation has captured 59 million points of interest, including restaurants, landmarks, streets, and regional borders. The data can be used for free as the base layer for a new map application. The data was collected and donated to the foundation by Meta and Microsoft.
All 3 formats I mentioned are free to use and there are free and open source libraries to do the conversion.

But they could give you an option to change it. For example, in my OnePlus I can choose video in h264 or h265 format. Photo there is no option, just JPEG.
There are more efficient formats like JPEG-XL, HEIF and WebP. If you convert the RAW -> JPEG -> WebP you are losing more quality. I think iPhone uses HEIF format.

That's a competition problem. If its a monopoly and you just change the owner you are not solving anything. The state job must be guarantee the competition, not to run all kind of business.
With the levels of corruption, unemployment and nepotism in Spain the less state the better., They want to run state owned business to give jobs to his familys, friends and politics. All state owned business here give really bad service and they lost hundreds of millions every year that are paid by all taxpayers, not just the users.

I don't want to spend time defending VOX because I don't like them. Some of the things you said are right but exaggerated. They want stronger laws against crimes and illegal immigration, it's not against human rights. Franco's death was 50 years ago, please move on, Spain is a totally different country now. The friends of wealthy people are PP and PSOE (or any with politic power). They are in favor of universal free education and universal free healthcare, but the services must be provided by private companies because it's more efficient than public employees.

The communist try to solve all the problems with
- laws that limit the individual rights and the personal property. you own nothing, the state will give you the things you need as long as you vote me
- tax to the wealthy and private companies. i could agree, but if you earn 30.000€ / year you are considered rich. That's 1500€ * 14 months. if you earn that you are not rich by any means but they want to tax you to death. we have few companies and few wealthy people, soon won't be anything to tax
- public workers and state owned companies. sumar/podemos has in his electoral program state owned banks, state owned houses, state owned utilities, state owned transport, state owned pensions, state owned education, state owned health, state owned news/tv
They want to apply in Spain the policies that have failed in all communist countries. All of them very democratic and Sumar supports them.
I have a low power NAS (~35W) and I want to buy an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to keep things running. The problem is most UPS for well known brands have an idle power usage (even without load) greater than 20W. It's comprable with the NAS + HDDs + Network equipment....
Do you know any alternative? UPS battery for 10 minutes will be enough. UPS load could be very low < 50 W. UPS software is optional.
