how do i back up IDM list of downloaded files when reinstalling without keeping the registry?
  • i have no ongoing downloads and just failed downloads i am too lazy to redownload and not in a hurry to use (but they may be useful to me later)

so to confirm, i should just use

"tasks->export -> export IDM files, all"

and all failed and successful downloads will be recorded into that file? reading it using a txt editor it seems to look like this

    "

    <
    https:/....../filename
    referer: https://.....
User-Agent: Mozilla xxx (Windows xxx; Win64; x64; rv xxx) Gecko/xxxx

    Firefox/xxx

do you have to export the registry as describe here if you want to backup the list of downloaded files or those that are in progress, as mentioned here https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/register/new\_faq/functions17.html ? my os is a mess and i prefer if i the default "export to IDM export file" from task menu of IDM works. i am not sure if importing the exported IDM file would confuse the program in my newly installed win 11.

generally is it an acceptable practice to daisy chain USB HDs and SSDs to a powered hub instead of using an enclosure?

I need the mobility sometimes due to work and studies, and I already bought 2-3 external HDs some years ago. for the moment i will have to put up with a usb hub.

i am worried about the safety of data storage though.

could it damage the laptop and the usb ports potentially if i daisy chain 3 usb HDs to a powered usb hub (12v 3a total input, 6 sockets 5 v 900ma (max), 4 sockets 5v 1.5a (max) ), connect that to a 3.2 usb socket, and then use another 3.2 socket for a 1.5a external portable SSD? would that simply demand too much power and cause problems?

I have 3 external USB HDs from 2017s. 3x 1tb WD passport and WD elements.

    1 external SSD Samsung 1tb T7.

    Plz advice me, thank you!

under 100 usb 1-2tb external HD or portable SSD recommendations?

what is a good portable SSD or external hard disk (connected via USB ports) for under 100 USD? I only have usb 3.0 ports, should I choose those that allow usb-c connections? can i just use a usb-c to usb-a converter cable and use the SSD or HD via usb 3.0 ports?

is i bad to use a usb-c to usb-a converter cable and use the SSD or HD via usb 3.0 ports ? or would that cause issues like not enough power being directed to the port? does it automatically adjust the current draw?

    ....

ty. someone recommended me m.2 drive enclosure + samsung 980/970 etc.

is "m.2 drive enclosure" basically a converter for SSDs? also if you connect an SSD with usb-c or usb 3.2 connection type to a usb 3.0 port, via a usb-c or 3,2 to 3.0 converter or an enclosure, would that still kill the usb 3.0 port by trying to overdraw power?

also is it bad to use 3 external HDs + the SSD with m.2 enclosure together on a laptop? i have a powered hub for the HDs and would only use the usb 3.0 port of the laptop directly use the SSD+m.2 enclosure. is this good practice?

is this bad, especially with the addition of SSD+enclosure? should i buy external HD with less power consumption to be safe? or does it not matter?
