I am 1pm friend
  • A big one like the Honeywell HEPA ones is also great. Filtering only, don't get the ionized ones. You can just replace the prefilters once a year or so (can vacuum them off to reuse once or twice) and the actual HEPA filter lasts a really long time.

Claritin or whatever works and aerobic exercise daily also does major wonders.

  • Dual headphone jack smartphone scores high in new reparability video
  • I've always wondered why no one thought of redesigning the jack. Have it just be form-fitted outside contacts, with magnetic adhesion to hold the plug in place. There isn't any real reason it has to be a socket.

The reason is of course the masses just use Bluetooth, or deal with the dongle, because they absolutely must have an iPhone.

  • Longtime Debian user, looking to branch out.
  • I don't know about slim but I love OpenSUSE. It is super stable, I've run it for about a billion years. You can use the installer to just choose the server light install.

II use Debian for some build machines.

  • virtualizing PFSense. What else works besides ESXi for virtual networking?

with the demise of ESXi, I am looking for alternatives. Currently I have PfSense virtualized on four physical NICs, a bunch of virtual ones, and it works great. Does Proxmox do this with anything like the ease of ESXi? Any other ideas?

A major road project on the brink of charging through Austin will resonate in more ways than one.

I did not know about the giant drainage tunnels. Also a map of noise reduction walls.

Williamson county installing license plate tracking along roads
www.kxan.com License-plate reader cameras coming to Williamson County in pilot program

Williamson County is planning to install 25 license-plate reading cameras across the county to help fight and solve crimes.

All well and good when fighting crime maybe, but there aren't restrictions on selling that data to other entities. Where your cars go, when, and how fast, although newer cars report all that back anyway (see the Toyota breach recently).

www.kxan.com Why did a private helicopter land multiple times in a north Austin parking lot?

Private helicopter lands multiple times in a north Austin shopping center parking lot, concerning tenants. Is this allowed?

The FAA will be very interested I am sure.

The UT Falcon cam is still up

No falcons though. Tower Girl is long gone. The camera just focuses on campus areas of interest, and someone occasionally moves it.

Access Restricted to Zilker overflow parking in September
www.kxan.com Parks and Rec Board votes to permanently close Zilker Park overflow lot in September

During its Monday night meeting, the board amended and approved a draft recommendation on closing the field permanently to parking starting Sept. 4

Big changes...shuttle buses, payment, etc. I don't even go to Zilker any more except for Barton Springs since it's impossible to park there and there are many local parks around anyway.

Zoneminder is awesome if you want to keep your security footage to yourself.
    zoneminder.com ZoneMinder - Home

A full-featured, open source, state-of-the-art video surveillance software system.

Zoneminder is a pretty solid setup for IP security cameras, and the zmninja app is really nice too. I had tried it years ago but got back to it recently with some sketchy IP cameras. I just put them in their own VLAN, no Internet access, Zoneminder does motion detection and event recording, and so far I'm quite pleased with it.
