What VPN would you recommend for torrenting?
  • You can seed, but you're depending on other people opening their ports to seed and download.

  • How many of you actually use the headphone jack on your phone?
  • This is the correct answer. It's about having choices. I very often forget to charge my wireless when I need it and when it's dead, all I have to do is pull my wired out since my phone has the headphone jack. And when I work, I use my wired to listen to music, because in that situation, wired is simply superior. So I will always buy a phone with a headphone jack because I don't want a perfectly workable, harmless feature that I need to be taken away from me.

  • Can someone ELI5 for me how Piped works?
  • From a user's perspective, Piped does basically 2 things:

    • It acts as a middleman between you and YouTube, so YouTube can't trace your activities back to you.
    • It gives you its own front-end free of ads and trackers.
  • anyone know of a Firefox add-on that redirects all yt links EXCEPT the home page?
  • This will work only if you open the link in a new tab:

    • Install LibRedirect.
    • Set up all the Piped instances you'd like to use for YouTube redirect.
    • On "General", under "Excluded from redirecting", add this as Regex: https?:\/\/(www\.|)youtube.com\/?$

  • imo the tab grouping extension in Firefox is way better than Chrome's built-in solution. I can't remember the name though since I'm on mobile.

  • Some veteran YouTube staff think Shorts might ruin YouTube
  • Just gotta look for instances and hope one of them works well. Generally I've never run into a situation where no instances work.

  • Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
  • Anyone able to come up with this tech has the choice to just leave and work elsewhere.

  • Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
  • lol Firefox + adblock beat Chrome any day.

  • Mozilla officially opposes Web Enviroment Integrity API (DRM for web pages proposal from Google)
  • Even if I go along that line of thought, few years ago when I was using Chrome it started scanning my computer without any notice, causing the fan to run hard.

I stopped using that creepy POS immediately and switched to Firefox. Never again a browser can just make a decision to scan my computer to "protect" me from whatever.
