brainstorming ideas for awards on lemmy
  • I fully agree. And it feels great to do something you believe in without expecting to recognized for it. I just tried to give an alternative to comment awards that would limit the visual noise.

  • Sync for Lemmy - Now Released on Play Store
  • You said there are NO trackers and I see 146 tracking attempts. It doesn't matter how much data they collect, what you said is not right. Even the dev said that trackers are disabled when you get the ad free version which implies that trackers do exist otherwise. I have no horse in this race but it's hard to have a discussion when people use such definitive and inaccurate statements.

brainstorming ideas for awards on lemmy
  • I could kinda tolerate Reddit gold as an alternate way to donate. But then they added a boatload of awards and it just became annoying visual noise. I blocked all awards and I'm suprised there are people who miss them. Why not add a donator badge to user profiles if you want some kind of value for your donation?

  • Hmm... if you convert each byte to little endian floating point, you'll get a latitude/longitude of 1.09301/1.10702. And those coordinates lead to a point right in the north atlantic ocean. Is this where you hid the body?! gestures wildly

  • But maybe you could explain the secret of your username? Is it unicode for the chinese word "乏" which means poor/tired? Is it some magic number or boot signature? I need to know!!

Any chance we could get an old.lemmy.ml theme?

I love the style that was implemented for https://old.lemmy.world and https://old.lemmy.sdf.org. Are there any plans to add something similar for this instance? (Not sure if an old subdomain is the right choice for this, since there is already a theme selection in the profile settings.)

    Thanks for your work!

Will humanity ever be able to overcome that tribalistic instinct of "us vs. them?"
  • But how would you define the point at which our material needs are met? It feels like it's an intrinsic desire for humans to gain an advantage over other people. Or at least we want the illusion of being able to gain an advantage through either hard work or gaming the system. For me it seems like capitalism lies in our nature and it requires a complete change of our societal values to move to a different system. Not saying that I think capitalism is a good thing.
