What are these? Where do I use them?
  • atlas skill point and Kirac mission. for the former, open the atlas passive for the latter talk to kirac

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?
  • Ended up moving to Trade league, I was level 87 farming T1-3s with absolutely no luck, I was around 100h spent in maps. Since I dropped two items that would total 6 divines and that were no use to my build, I gave up farming, migrated, and sold both lol

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?
  • I see, thanks. It doesn't have that line so I'll go with required level instead, which is 60, meaning it can drop in any map... which is good since I'm trying to farm a T4 map for one divination card... and that's also going pretty badly as I only got one lol

    I'm not gonna make it

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?
  • I see, thank you, appreciate the help!

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?
  • I'm already wearing IIR items, up to 90% now, but I had forgotten about Item Rarity Support, I guess I can add it to my main skill! Thanks!

Yeah, getting the bases is not an issue, they do drop kind of regularly and I've been chancing them all.

Where do I see the unique's minimum level? Is it the required level to use it? If it is, then I'm good even in T1 maps lol

I will keep trying chancing as well, you never know

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?
  • Thanks! Not a fan of Heist so I'll keep focusing on Expedition and add Ritual. I'll also craft a Gold flask, even though I'm alreadly at around 90%IIR on my equip. Is the Atlas passive that converts map IIQ to 300% IIR worth taking?

  • Best strategy to farm uniques that don't have a divination card?

    I'm playing SSF btw

I need a stupid T4 unique that I haven't managed to drop (I did drop the ONLY OTHER UNIQUE WITH THE SAME BASE THANK YOU GGG -well at least this means that I can guarantee the one I need if I get an Ancient orb, right?- edit: no, Ancient Orb keeps class and ignores base, so I can vendor the one I dropped OK) or chance.

I missed a few years of PoE, so reading around it seems like trying Gwennen gambling is (or was) a good way to farm T1-T0, so I guess it should work for lower tiers as well? But is there a better way that you can suggest?

I'm at my wits' end, since I'm level 87 and I haven't managed to get it yet, absolutely my fault I know, but if I can't get it "soon" I will probably migrate to Trade league and buy it for 3c lol

For those of you on Linux + Steam, how to make multithreading work?

I have a very old CPU and without multithreading I get abysmal FPS in certain encounters like Breach (which I'm farming), couple of times I hit 1 FPS, and average like 10 FPS, which often kills me.

Multithreading + Vulkan crashes the game with an engine error that apparently has no fix; DX12/11 crash the game as soon as I pick either. I think I'm running PoE with the latest ProtonGE. Any way to make it work? I don't really care about graphics at this point, if I can get 30+ stable FPS in Breaches I'm happy lol

    edit:

    • updated PoP! OS

First week of Settlers league is over. How has it been?
  • Not a huge fan of the town management bits, but I'm playing SSF and shipments can bring back uniques, of which I need four for my build, so I'm trying to play the mechanic.

One of the uniques I need can be targeted via Divination, but I'm still trying to understand how to sustain the one map it drops in, without much luck. The other uniques can't be obtained via Divinations, so I'm trying to chance them (no luck so far, unfortunately...). I was also considering the Atlas Passives that converts map item quantity to 3x item rarity, in hopes of dropping those uniques and then maybe respec it when I need currency for crafting Rares for the other slots... don't know tbh, first time SSF and also been away from the game for several years lol

I'll also have to review my defences as I'm getting one- or two-shotted in early yellow maps through 3k life and 3k ES, with 40% attack block, 20% spell block and 20% spell suppression, but there isn't much else on the tree that I can allocate easily...

  • How was your first weekend of the new league?

This is my first league in years and I decided to try SSF for the first time, I'm building a pretty standard ED/Contagion Occultist that I plan to spec to Low Life if I manage to chance/drop the needed uniques (four unique pieces: Cane of Unravelling, Heretic's Veil, Shavronne's Wrappings and Presence of Chayula), of which only the amulet should be difficult to obtain since I need to drop a Blessing of Chayula, but the Atlas Passive should help with targeting Breach encounters... hopefully!

Still in acts and unfortunately I'm not dropping any "+1 to gems" equip, so damage is a bit lacking at the moment, but survivability is good and I'm moving forward at a decent pace!

    What about you?

Returning player... is there a good guide to SSF?
  • Eh, I'm not going to play at max effort, I'm just getting back to PoE after all. A way to farm Fusings is good enough!

Thanks for the help, I dind't know about Tainted Fusings, that could also be of help

  • Returning player... is there a good guide to SSF?
  • Thank you, never would've tought about a couple of these!

-I guess that I can hide the vast majority of bases that I can't use or don't fit my class, at least while leveling during acts. At some point I will need the Chaos recipe thogh and those useless bases can come in handy

-A plan about gearing is absolutely a stranger to me lol I've played 3k hours in trade leagues so I'm just used to buy what I need. Except for some specific bases and the right gems, everything else is a mistery

-this one is easier, as I'll mostly farm only the divination cards needed to get my uniques, unless I can chance them

-I know about the bench craft, what I don't know is how long is going to take to get to 1500 fusings... guess that's another divination to farm lol

-this is good advice, a meh Temple can net good XP and drops evem though the double corruption room isn't available!

-I'll need to look into this a bit better, so thanks!

  • Returning player... is there a good guide to SSF?

I'll be trying SSF for the first time next league and I'm looking for a guide, though not a full-fledged one, but something more akin to small tips and tricks to have an easier time in SSF, how to build your character to accomodate whatever equip you drop or manage to craft, for example.

I was planning on playing ED Occultist as it can get pretty tanky with decent clear speed even on just rares, but the uniques I'm looking at can get chanced which would be a welcome addition.

My main doubt is about six-linking... should I just abandon the idea? lol I remember trying several times and it always took a pretty hefty amount of fusings, though I've been always lucky since the one that took the most was just shy of 1000, which is something in trade league, but I bet it will be much more difficult to accrue in SSF

Solving Path of Exile item crafting with Reinforcement Learning
  • I recently got back into it, and it's not that bad if you go in with the knowledge that you won't get a top tier item without investing an absurd amount of currency and with curbed expectations.

You can get some decent rares by limiting yourself to three or four mods items without spending too much and by offsetting your equip's shortcomings with your passives.

I think the main issue is that the game is balanced around trading, which lead to incredibly overpowered items and monsters... just yesterday I got oneshot through 8800ES while monsters where cursed with Enfeeble on my build from three or four years ago, in a lightly modded T9 map, by a Delirium boss, I think?, which is kinda nuts

I'm gonna go SSF next league without expecting to get to Red maps and see how it goes, but crafting doean't seem too bad now and this comes from someone who never crafted anything, always bought my equip

  • r/linuxmemes in a nutshell
  • Hell yea

  • How would you go for a 500-600€ build able to handle 2023-2024 gaming standards
  • You will have to look at the second hand market for sure, but you can probably get a decent 1080p 80-100fps medium/high build.

    Something like (or equivalent):

    Ryzen 5 3600

    RX 6600

    16GB DDR4

    1TB SSD (probably not NVMe)

    Whatever case

Whatever monitor, even if only 60Hz, for now

    Whatever MoBo

Tier A PSU from the Cultists Network PSU tier list

You can most likely get everything used if you buy from a second hand shop that has a form of buyer protection (eBay and similar) and thoroughly check and clean and test everything you buy

  • Display issue
  • Haven't seen this mentioned, but did you make sure to plug the display cable into the GPU and not the MoBo?

edit: nvm, just saw a comment with same suggestion

  • Some help needed with a build
  • Nitro+ worth it?

I guess not for that much more. A 10% increase is substantial, and I don't think the difference in actual performance is enough to justify it; but you also said that your region can get toasty in summer, and the Nitro+ has better cooling which could help. I don't think the Pulse will get too hot to work, but it may be something to consider!

    DDR5

Those are one of the best performance to price ratio, and they're very inexpensive for what they are (plus full support for AMD overclocking, EXPO I think it's called); you can also go higher frequency, but prices will go up as well.

    cooler

Good call then, AIO will probably perform a bit better with extreme high ambient temps

    970

All good, a 970 Evo Plus might be cheaper so why not!

    5.0

Yeah, there's no way gaming will saturate PCIe 5.0 anytime soon, no need to pay premium for specs you won't benefit from

    Happy building and gaming!

  • Some help needed with a build
  • About RAM, Trident Z5 NEO @ 6000Mhz seems to be the best price/performance ratio.

About GPU, I'd personally go for a Sapphire as they're one of the historic AIB for AMD GPUs and I also dig a lot the design of the Nitro+ lol

See if you can save something on the MoBo (by getting a lower trim) and 2x2TB might be a bit overkill for gaming only (ofc it depends on your habits, but I personally don't have games installed for more than 500-600GB). Also, you picked two PCIe 4.0 NVMEs, so maybe consider a 970 Evo Plus if it's cheaper than the 980 Pro

About cooler, I'd prefer an old fashioned air cooler simply because it can't leak lol

  • Bought a couple of Exos 7E10 8TB drives, warranty status says "initially sold as part of a larger system, contact seller". It means I can't take advantage of their five years warranty, doesn't it?
  • Sorry for late reply, app kept saying "this account is being verified" and I coulnd't comment or anything else.

Anyways, I kept them. One drive loss won't be catastrophic (got two mirrored and also spare backup), so I decided to go for it!

In the end I decided to keep them, considering the store provides warranty! Loving the gigantic storage amount I have now haha

I admit they were way too cheap for what they are (like 15% cheaper than same-size Ironwolf), so I gambled it haha there were no indications that these drives were OEM or similar.

Back to issue at hand: since I can't personally have the five years warranty on these, only the original purchaser can, and I have no way to know who they are and when they bought them, I should just return them, right? And maybe buy the next ones only from authorized sellers?

edit: also, now that I think about it, and before I make the same mistake twice, there's no way I can get enterprise drives as a normal consumer, can I, at least not brand new? I expect any enterprise drives I can find will have the same issue, i.e. bought by someone else for servers or similar, and then resold, correct?

edit 2: actually WD sells enterprise drives on their website, so my previous assumption about it was wrong

NAS build, what's wrong with it?

I want to setup a NAS (mainly for storing games and videos), that I'd also like to use to watch said videos on a WiFi TV and to install games on a separate PC connected via ethernet. This is the part list I came up with (plus whatever GPU I can get for as cheap as possible, I can probably get a GT 730 GTX750 for free). I also don't need it to be on 24/7, if that's OK. I can place it in the same room as my main PC and hook it up to the same monitor to turn it on and start it up.

    What's wrong with it?

PCPP says that R3 3100 isn't compatible with the RAM I picked (although I can't find why); it also says MoBo doesn't support ECC RAM, but on the producer's website it says it does (https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A520M-ITXac/index.asp#Specification) , so I think PCPP is wrong.

I tried building around LGA 1150/1151 but motherboard prices are way higher (although CPU prices are lower).

I don't think I can make it much cheaper than this, since I'm buying everything, but if you can point me in a cheaper direction, feel free to do so!

    Thanks in advance

Ignore prices: I'm going to buy from different stores and I couldn't bother inputing prices manually actually went and edited prices, also removed unnecessary bits as they were causing some confusion haha

This part list fits my budget and it's unlikely I will make changes to it, unless there are big issues with compatibility in which case the only change I can make is to go for a 7800XT instead to open up some of the budget to fix those issues.

Objective is playing AAA games at 3440*1440 100+ fps (ideally 120+), high-ultra with no RT and hopefully no FSR; what I'm keeping from current build are RAM and MoBo (plus case, CPU cooler, fans, and drives, but these shouldn't cause any issues). I listed current drives, fans, etc. just to get a somewhat accurate total power draw to pick the right PSU.

I know about case GPU length restrictions, that's why there's a slim fan in the list that will be mounted front bottom, to accomodate the long GPU (Fractal's website says maximum GPU length with front fan is 315mm, standard fan is 25mm deep, 7900XT is 320mm and the slim fan is 16mm deep, so I should have 4mm of wiggle room!).

My main doubt is about huge bottlenecks with either RAM or MoBo. I'm keeping those and I'd rather not change them, because that would mean having to get a 7800XT instead (I know, for example, that a faster and lower CL RAM will give me slightly better FPS, although my current sticks are running at 3466Mhz and CL18, so not too bad, but I'm not looking to min-max to the last minute detail), unless such dated parts would cause huge bottlenecks that would make that GPU a total waste.

PC will be used exclusively for gaming.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

edit: after a bit more researching, I ditched the AOC U34G3XM and picked this Gigabyte after watching the video by Hardware Unboxed

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5FunMmbztw

The only bottleneck I see is the PCIe on the motherboard, which is only 3.0 x16, while the 7900XT is 4.0 16x. Not the end of the world, though, so I will pull the trigger in the next few days. Thanks everyone for your help!
