Julian Assange has reached a plea deal with the U.S., allowing him to go free
  • @Zoldyck@lemmy.world

Bush, Trump, Clinton and Biden all got more innocent people killed than Julian. Their crimes all dwarf anything he is accused of let alone is guilty of. If you are not a literal bot, you have allowed yourself to be programmed by intelligence agencies into hating the man who exposed the crimes over the men who committed them.

  • Streeting announces he will "go further" than Tony Blair with NHS privatisation
  • @Anamnesis@lemmy.world The British People don't want it at all, but we are ruled by fuckheads who can only get their seat by accepting bribes from private health companies.

  • General election latest: Rishi Sunak to call election for 4 July - after 'long' discussion in No 10
  • @flamingos@feddit.uk That's why the sudden rush-move. Calling the election before enough letters can arrive to have him kicked out.

  • @AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space More like exposing him really. Let him talk to damn himself.

  • Use WhatsApp without a smartphone?
  • @beeng@discuss.tchncs.de I wonder what proportion of the original code is still there. Not much I shouldn't think. The original app didn't ask for android permissions the way the modern one does, if only coz Android changed the way permissions work since then.

  • Use WhatsApp without a smartphone?
  • @robin@beehaw.org

Whatssapp is designed as a surveillance app, it's primary purpose is to collect data from your phone for Facebook to analyze, so they make it basically impossible to use unless it's installed on your phone.

  • Public don’t want to admit they’re Tories, says Liz Truss
  • The british public are pretty conservative, but the tory party are a fucking wrecking ball and no conservative should vote conservative if they want to conserve things.

  • Google will no longer back up the Internet: Cached webpages are dead
  • Seems unlikely they'll deleted it. If they're started deleting data that's quite a change. They might save from bandwidth costs of delivering it to people I suppose.

Maybe something to do with users filling the AIs from the google cache? Google wanting to ensure only they can train from the google-cache.

  • Rishi Sunak says Britain would go ‘back to square one’ with Labour ahead of first major campaign event of year.
  • @Jackthelad@lemmy.world Yeah, it'd just be easier to reset than to sort through good from bad. Can always re-assess any good ones. Chances are even they can be done better.

Resetting the Brexit and other foreign treaty stuff could be quite tricky in practice too.

  • Rishi Sunak says Britain would go ‘back to square one’ with Labour ahead of first major campaign event of year.
  • If only there really was a party offering to undo every law the conservative and coalition governments have passed and return us to a time before they existed.

That party would be the best party.

Sadly that isn't on offer and even Labour intend to keep this mess of a country mostly without any reverting of changes at all.

  • Clicks is a BlackBerry-style iPhone keyboard case designed for creators
  • @Norgur@kbin.social hehe.

A stylus holder too, an extra battery of course, too to handle the extra load.

No phone has been better than the n900. But a case that had the keys and extra power and maybe a secondary status screen on the back, and didn't look like a bananna themed children's toy. Could be nice.

  • People, please, it's "ex-twitter"
  • While it still says "twitter.com" in the SSL certificate, that's still it's name. It is still called Twitter.

  • Labour is going to be more radical than you think it is | Ian Dunt
  • There's literally no way to know what a Labour government will be like. All we know about Starmer is that he's prepared to lie and say whatever he thinks he needs to say to get power.

Was he lying to the left to get selected? Or is he lying to the right now to get elected?

    🤷

Even to whatever extent they have described any policies at all, they're probably just lies.

Still. The mystery prize will indeed be better than yet more crazed Tories. I suspect just not all that different.

  • If all adblocks get deleted, would you still pirate?
  • @XeryBlox The first thing I would pirate would be a hacked version of Firefox that had ad-blockers in it.

If I can't get that then I'd think about abandoning the web for Gemini.

  • What will the next UK Labour government do about Brexit?
  • In the first term of a Labour government they will maybe be a bit less hostile towards the EU but they won't be re-joining or anything. They'll have no mandate to do so since they worry putting it in a manefesto would alienate their red-wall voters.

As it currently looks Labour won't do much of anything at all. Continue tory spending plans, refuse to raise any taxes, not rebuild any schools, not make any changes which may affect the social order or reform capitalism in any way.

Expect 4 years of calm with almost nothing happening. Which in itself will be quite a relief.

  • Tory MPs submitting letters of no confidence in Sunak
  • @Oneeightnine The only horrific thing he has to do is look like he'll lose the election.

For what it's worth, I too have no confidence that Sunak will win the election, thank goodness.

Those submitting letters to the committee now probably never liked Sunak in the first place, some may have even submitted them on day one when they were just angry at him ousting BoJo.

  • Big money donors desert Tories and switch to Labour
  • Of course they do, Labour will be the ones passing the laws in a couple of years and they've shown under their current leadership they are no threat to established interests and will do nothing to change the order of things and since the party has lost so many members it needs the money.
