is reddit trying to kill their platform on purpose?
you’re correct 👍🏼 i want lemmy to get popular, but these are the roadblocks that we need to watch out for. at least the solution is easy tho, make more servers
thank you! i plan on making a sway, or another wayland tile manager rice before the end of the summer :)
I meant blowed up in the sense of like, genuinely goes out of service (i was at work at the time, i did not explain properly). But yeah, if it gets too popular for the admin to handle that may also be an issue. So far I like lemmy a little more than reddit. I think I will always miss apollo, but this will guarantee that my third party client will not go out of service 🙏🏼
let’s gooo 👏🏼 the fediverse is getting bigger!
oh shit nvm 👏🏼
true :P right now i don’t think it’s even an issue, since you can’t subscribe to users anyways
fair point
EDIT: Just found out there are many issues discussing this on the repo. Guess this post may add to the noise :P
Right now I love the current instance I’m on, and have trust that my instance will stick for long term. But, in the case that the instance gets shut down, is there a way for me to transfer my account data (followers and such) somewhere else (like Mastodon)? Or, is that not possible at the moment. I’m new to lemmy and figuring out what certain things i can do in the fediverse, and what insurance i have if my main instance crumbles.
desperate as fuckkkkkk
lemmy for me rn has become an almost perfect replacement. only thing i can feature request is the ability to transfer my data to other instances when needed, in case my current one blows up.
other than that, this place is solid 👍🏼
i feel you on this 😭 i want to start getting into using matrix more. i joined arch and ubuntu rooms, but there really isn’t much going on there.
if you find any rooms that are good @ me
thanks for posting link! wallpaper goes hard
Trying it out right now on my phone for a bit, i still like memmy a lot more tho :)
just looked at it as well. it’s a web app but it seems cool! i also like how it’s self hostable too
