With its return to an aggressive foreign and great power policy and the preparations for a direct war against Russia, the German ruling class is once again openly relying on the criminal traditions of Hitler’s army, the Wehrmacht.
>Almost unnoticed by the public, on July 12 the Bundeswehr (Armed Forces) issued “Supplementary information on the guidelines for understanding and maintaining traditions in the Bundeswehr.” The document was signed by Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider, head of the Department for Operational Readiness and Support of the Armed Forces in the Defence Ministry. It explicitly names top officers of the Nazi Wehrmacht as “tradition-forming” and “identity-creating” for the Bundeswehr, today’s German army.
A lot of it is due to the ideological education of this society. They can see, as anyone who bothers to look, that this country is messed up. The problem though is the immense anti-communist ideology in this society. So they are cut off from real solutions from the start. They've been taught that the solutions to the problems are the causes of the problems. The only answers they can see are down roads that will only make things worse instead of better.

I guess the way I understand it is that while the sanctions are still there without monitors they have a bit more room to maneuver.
The Security Council resolution sponsored by the United States would have extended the mandate of the panel for a year.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Russia vetoed a U.N. resolution Thursday in a move that effectively abolishes the monitoring by United Nations experts of U.N. sanctions against North Korea aimed at reining in its nuclear program, though the sanctions themselves remain in place.

That's exactly why, they discovered that blatant fascism generates resistance. So they go for obscurant fascism, plausibly deniable fascism. As long as they can keep enough people thinking "it's not that bad yet" they get to keep playing.
Permissive airstrikes on non-military targets and the use of an AI system have enabled the Israeli army to carry out its deadliest war on Gaza.
In one case discussed by the sources, the Israeli military command knowingly approved the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in an attempt to assassinate a single top Hamas military commander. “The numbers increased from dozens of civilian deaths [permitted] as collateral damage as part of an attack on a senior official in previous operations, to hundreds of civilian deaths as collateral damage,” said one source.
“Nothing happens by accident,” said another source. “When a 3-year-old girl is killed in a home in Gaza, it’s because someone in the army decided it wasn’t a big deal for her to be killed — that it was a price worth paying in order to hit [another] target. We are not Hamas. These are not random rockets. Everything is intentional. We know exactly how much collateral damage there is in every home.”
According to the investigation, another reason for the large number of targets, and the extensive harm to civilian life in Gaza, is the widespread use of a system called “Habsora” (“The Gospel”), which is largely built on artificial intelligence and can “generate” targets almost automatically at a rate that far exceeds what was previously possible. This AI system, as described by a former intelligence officer, essentially facilitates a “mass assassination factory.”
I think we're saying the same things though. I didn't mean to suggest that China is seeking Western approval or anything. Just that advocating a one state solution right now would be taken as a provocative position and likely escalate this conflict and others.

Just recent events and the fact that I tend to have a depressive personality in general. When shit goes down like this it always messes me up.

Eh occasionally I'll be scrolling the Internet and feel something on my face only to realize I've been silently crying for a couple of minutes now.
>As Israel escalates its attacks on Gaza, the State Department is discouraging diplomats working on Middle East issues from making public statements suggesting the U.S. wants to see less violence, according to internal emails viewed by HuffPost.
>In messages circulated on Friday, State Department staff wrote that high-level officials do not want press materials to include three specific phrases: “de-escalation/ceasefire,” “end to violence/bloodshed” and “restoring calm.”
Oil giant Equinor is behind the project, but renewables still make up only a tiny fraction of its total energy production.
Fossil fuel giant Equinor is behind the huge Hywind Tampern farm which, with 88 megawatts (MW) of capacity, will generate energy to supply nearby oil and gas platforms.

It shouldn't be surprising that a couple days after this they made this post.
I just joined here a couple days before the Reddit thing happened. They're bringing all of what I didn't miss from quitting Reddit years ago. At least on the bright side I can mostly stay out of all that here.
