Mastodon shifts to nonprofit ownership, calls for $5M in donations to expand.
Cascadia forever!
I ended up blocking the community so I could see any other posts. How does this happen with Lemmy? Like honestly, I am confused about this.
My son did a report on vaquitas a couple of years back in grade school. Beyond learning about them as animals and that they do not survive in captivity, it was an unfortunate lesson in the destruction of capitalism for such a young and already struggling young mind.
I honestly don’t think that old man Joe can recall what he has said to Netanyahu, let alone had for breakfast this morning. What he said is beside the point because he continued to fork over blank checks to Israel. Glad we are rid of him. I have no faith the dems will give us something better moving forward though.
Shocking - the Dem’s extremely unpopular and immoral support of Israel’s genocide had consequences. That said, Kamala ran a perfect campaign and should have changed nothing.
How do impose a warning like this for Meta and Xitter?
I sure hope this is a meaningful effort and not just lip service like every other effort the Biden administration has made.
Mastodon’s founder cedes control to non-profit
I honestly did not realize this was not already the case but it is a good move to make right now. Hopefully folks will start to recognize the Fediverse for what it is and can be and explore coming to the Activity Pub side over using Bluesky.
"I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of the time they spend making music.”
WTF is wrong AI CEO tech bros. People don't like making music? Get fucked.
Meta Is Blocking Links to Pixelfed
Pixelfed said it is "seeing unprecedented levels of traffic."
This is seems on par for Meta. With FB and Instagram being such monoliths, could we be seeing the early stages of their collapse? I wonder how much more it will take for the everyday user to become disenchanted with Meta to drop their platforms.
Hello beehaw folks! First time checking in and saying hello here. My week has been a rollercoaster ride between children, work, and having too much else going on. My weekend was super busy, but I got the main things I needed to do done including removing and replacing 2 rotted fence posts, taking my youngest (3) to our first violin practice, and having a meeting with my creative team on our next steps (yeah that last one is intentionally vague, but it was a success so I am counting it). Hoping to more actively contribute here on Beehaw/Lemmy moving forward!
