Unpopular opinion: Linux Mint sucks ass and there are so many great distros to choose from, which aren't Linux Mint. It looks like Windows XP and functions like Windows XP. Still uses X11, which doesn't even have proper support for 1:1 touchpad gestures and handles multiple displays with different scaling factors and refresh rates in a way that is, well, hacky and janky at best or non-functional at worst.
I get that Linux Mint is easy to use because it's made specifically to be as convenient as possible to users coming from Windows but jeez, it looks and feels like something from 2005, especially on a laptop...
That sounds like lots of work, I can buy two rust-free Aygos/C1s/107s for that price and keep the current one as a parts donor, lol. Though is ripping out the interior necessary? I thought the bottom floor was not the same as the interior floor under the carpet (based on the height difference and part placement underneath the car), though I might be wrong.

This is a Toyota Aygo from 2007. As you can see, the rust is getting pretty bad where sills meet the floor. It's the same on both sides near rear wheels. The rest of the floor, body and mechanical parts are very clean and in good shape. The car passed its last inspection three months ago but the rust is obviously spreading and there's no way I'll pass the next inspection after two years or the car will be safe to drive, especially since the rust is exactly where rear jack points are.
How much labour do you think welding would require? Is it going to be expensive? Sure, it's a shitbox from 2007 and scrapping the car before the next inspection sounds like the easy way but the rest of the car is actually in a very good shape mechanically and cosmetically, and very nice to drive, so I'd prefer to keep it, assuming a body shop can fix the rust damage for something like under 500 Euros. What do you recommend?
You'd be surprised how many people call all wolf-ish primitive breeds 'huskies'. Everyone in my neighbourhood thinks my dog (profile pic) is a Siberian husky, though it's more understandable since she's a related Siberian breed.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, except for one minor thing. Whether you are a pedestrian, a cyclist, a driver, etc., you still must look and observe the traffic when you have right of way. Even though it's a green light for you, it doesn't automatically make it right for you not to give shit about anything and recklessly cross the road while staring at your phone. There might be an idiot driver running a red light, an ambulance you can't hear because you're listening to music, etc. I always observe the situation even if I have right of way, regardless if I am walking, cycling, or driving. It would be suicidal to do otherwise.
Same here in Lithuania. McDonalds is way too expensive for people on a tight budget and what you get for the price is disappointing too. It's cheaper and more delicious to make some burgers at home (which aren't so dry that you must wash down every bite with a sip of Coke) or just to get a street kebab (which is slightly more expensive but actually fills you for the entire day and is full of meat and veggies).
Not trying to advocate petrol cars because public transport and cycling are obviously the most sustainable means of transportation, but I fucking bet that a tiny 3 cylinder 1 litre petrol shitbox is more sustainable than electric SUVs... At least it can last more than 5 years on the road and be easily repaired.
Ordinary petrol or diesel SUVs are often piece of shit because they are too flimsy to off road, not to mention how inefficient they are. Electric ones are no different, except that they are built like an appliance that is going to go to a landfill after its warranty ends.
I know this is not an objective comparison, but I was shocked after renting and comparing Peugeot e208 and e2008 for a couple of trips. e208 is an ordinary electric compact car, while the e2008 is an SUV built on the same powertrain. Guess what? The hatchback is quick, nippy, easily maneuverable, while its fat cousin is sluggish, sloppy and uncomfortable due to its weight and height. Utter garbage.
Wayland, especially with a laptop and/or a multi-monitor setup. It has a proper touchpad support with 1:1 gestures and setting different scaling factors for multiple monitors with different refresh rates is a breeze.
I don't want to sound rude, but how old is your setup? Are you using a desktop or a laptop computer?
Because I'm daily driving a late 2015 Dell XPS 9350 and X11 just ain't cutting it, even though the laptop is nearly a decade old. On X11, its trackpad would be garbage, GNOME's animations would be stuttery, and fractional scaling would be a mess, because I have a docking station with a 75 Hz ultrawide monitor, meaning that I must utilise both 125% and 100% scaling factors, as well as 60 Hz and 75 Hz refresh rates and different resolutions. Sure, not everyone uses multi monitor setups, but those who do serious office tasks or content production work often cannot imagine their workflow without multiple monitors. Point is, X11 is to ancient to handle such tasks smoothly, reliably and efficiently.
Multiple displays only work as long as you have identical resolutions and refresh rates. Good luck mixing monitors with different scaling factors and refresh rates on X11.
We get large appliances delivered. Stuff like washing machines or smaller refrigerators easily fit in medium or large hatchbacks. I've comfortably transported a washing machine, crapload of fruits and veggies from the countryside, and my 20 kg dog in my Renault Laguna hatchback once.
Most SUVs are useless off road and even the good ones aren't always necessary. Peugeot has proven it back in the late 60s and early 70s with its 504. It wasn't an SUV, it was an estate, and the only car that could drive in the Sahara.
Most modern SUVs would break off their axles during off roading, because they're cheaply made pieces of shit made for people who know nothing about driving. And then there's bullshit cross-overs like Toyota C-HR that are front wheel drive. That's right, they're making rugged-looking tiny 'off-roaders' that are as good off road as your front wheel drive VW Polo. Possibly even worse due to shit build quality.
