Here we go again
  • Not built in, but you could always install one. Or you could check out Mullvad browser. It's based on Firefox and has some enhanced security setting and comes with Mullvad VPN (arguably the best VPN).

  • More of a uniform than a costume.
  • My comment isn't going to get people to come out to the country. When they realize they gotta drive more than 10 minutes to get to anything, they wouldn't even think about coming.

  • What do you choose?
  • Blockbuster definitely. Then I can just rip and upload to jellyfin as many videos as I want. Plus as a kid my parents never let me get the popcorn buckets at the counter and I need to have that experience because I remember them looking so great

  • More of a uniform than a costume.
  • I'm no conservative, but I wouldn't want to live in the city. If some shit goes down, people in the city would be fucked. With all the craziness in the world these days its not far fetched. Depending on what part of the "country" you're in, people leave you alone for the most part. The poorer areas out here can definitely be dangerous though.

  • Android vs. iOS
  • Stock IOS is probably more privacy friendly than android. Googles entire business is to make money off your data. Stock android uses google play services that have access to pretty much everything on your phone. Apple will bend to politicians on scanning your files and shit, but at least they (probably) aren't selling your data. As much as google at the very least.

But like many comments here, if you actually care about privacy, stock anything isn't the way to go. I use calyxos and find it to be a good balance between privacy and usability. No android auto, but banking apps work and from what I've read you can use garmin smartwatches or other similar watches that use their own app and smart watches that have been added to gadgetbridge https://f-droid.org/packages/nodomain.freeyourgadget.gadgetbridge/

Some people don't like microg, but I believe you can use calyxos without it. (Not sure if that will break banking apps though).

  • Today i installed arch linux for the first time
  • A lot of linux platforms are pretty plug and play now unless you're trying to get a programming running that wasn't built for Linux. That's why I think both Linux and proprietary operating systems have their place. Its just too bad not everyone makes their stuff for linux. It's definitely getting better though.

  • *points finger* That's bait.
  • I treat my PC like a console at this point. Don't use it for anything but gaming because of all the insane stuff games are doing with essentially making you install spyware. Figure I'd give them as little data as I can. I even have it on a separate network that can only communicate with the internet, not the rest of my LAN.

  • Locked
    Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • It could also be people who spent all this money to go to school for useless degrees and when they find out their "gender studies" degree doesn't make as much as an actual useful degree they also get upset.

  • Locked
    Why are folks so anti-capitalist?
  • Ehh it's probably mostly kids who have been handed everything to them their entire life and when they realize they need to start providing for themselves after their parents kick them out of the basement they get mad because they don't want to do anything but play videogames and get paid. They don't realize the only reason they have videogames to begin with is because of capitalism.

  • System76 or Framework laptop?
  • I believe frameworks firmware is open source as well. If money was no object I'd go framework. Modularity and reparability are unmatched. I love that I can just take the camera and microphone physically out of the laptop with ease. I really wanted to get the 16 but its just simply out of my budget. Hoping the price will come down over the next few years.
