I don't think the NYT is untrustworthy wholesale. They still break some stories early, have insider sources for political stories, etc
But they're also very much an outlet committed to making money over most else, have no sympathy for explicit anti-capitalism, and will run just the worst op-eds from the worst people.
Blocked on all streaming services we have. We thought it was harmless but annoying, but we got kinda spooked by how much that show in particular grabbed our kid's attention and didn't let go. For hours.
She'll get tired of other shows and ask to play, etc. But not with Cocomelon and its knockoffs. We just figured that couldn't be right. Then we read about how it was designed to hook baby brains... and that was the tipping point for us to banish it forever.
Of course, it also saved our sanity from those FUCKING SONGS. Plus I'm a big fan of animation in general, and that show BLOWS in that regard, to the point where I get kind of offended. So yeah. Good riddance.
I don't know if it's all dads, but that is exactly my experience. Once I could have a proper relationship through words, I really felt like a proper dad. But that took until she was closer to 4. Like I loved her, but it was definitely slow growth.
3 weeks in, I absolutely wasn't feeling it, and was worried I'd gotten myself into something I shouldn't have. Lots of doubts for sure.
I can't even do a normal share of an image. It just tried to send a "proxy_image" file instead, which of course isn't anything that people can actually see if you send it anyway.
In this case, it's pretty true. You can view the webauthn protocol, the FIDO2 documentation, etc, that are the foundation of what we know as "passkey" technology.
It's all cryptographic hashes getting sent around, essentially. The more high-grade security implementations are "device-bound passkeys" which do require a minimal amount of hardware registration, though, but you shouldn't ever need to do that unless you're like... accessing sensitive datasets or secure services, at which point you're most likely registering a work device, anyhow.
That's exactly it, yep. I'm well over apologizing at this point.
And yeah, I also moved back home for a while after college, and it was a bad time. Plenty of good, but plenty I'm glad to leave behind. Let us all strive to be better people than our parents were, I say.
I'm glad you're out, and I hope you're doing well. Stay safe out there!
Ah, that's the thing. He never demanded an apology. He sulked, and it was others in the family who learned about it (through either me or him) that told me I was wrong and to apologize.
I've never been one to back down from a conflict I thought was worthwhile. It wasn't until I was literally a married adult when an in-law (whom we love dearly) told my SO about how my family "sweeps things under the rug". When my SO told me later, I was like "nah... but wait do we though?" That led to a lot of revisiting old memories and realizing how conflict avoidant we really were (except for me, lol).
Yeah, if either of my parents demanded an apology from me for anything right now... they have some choice words coming.
My dad was smart when I was growing up. He is smart now.
But he's so entrenched in the worst right wing political lunacy, and always has been, that I've rarely viewed him as someone to imitate morally.
I blew up at him as a teen over the Iraq War. He never once justified his position in anything remotely resembling a reasoned argument, but I hurt his feelings, so I had to apologize to him about it. That family dynamic has never really changed, so I just don't talk to him anymore.
30mg for me. I never had any sort of headache or anything. The worst side effect I had was sweaty hands, which were really sweaty the first week. Even that has lessened significantly over the last couple of months.
