  • Big difference here is that Windows doesn't REQUIRE developers to use the windows store or still pay them money if they use other methods of payment. Anyone can download an installer and install software without the Windows store and Microsoft doesn't make developers pay them still to do that.

Now if they could get away with it they absolutely would like on Xbox. That's why Valve put so much effort into Linux.

  • All the interviews Stewart has done were so good and that one infuriated me the most. He really did try and push on him a little but the guy repeatedly avoided saying anything that wasn't on message and totally useless. Just really pathetic.

I liked pretty much all the guests he has had on but I genuinely came away hating Jeffries. Dude either doesn't get it or just doesn't care. Just absolutely infuriating.

  • If it's any consolation I don't think any of them I've run into REQUIRE Internet to use them as a dumb screen. I wouldn't buy one that did either. Lol.

  • Most TVs are dumb if you never hook them up to the Internet. I don't allow my OLEDs on the Internet generally and simply use a different device to stream and do all the things (webOS is actually pretty cool but LG is obnoxious like this sometimes). Even if your TV is good enough, this shit happens anyway. At least if my shield gets obnoxious, I can replace it with a different device.

  • Seriously. They all said they felt better than before but the dude barely said anything worthwhile. So disappointing it's the exact same hand wringing bullshit where they say "we just need to get the message out" instead of actually doing shit differently. Jon really did try to get more out of him but he stayed on message like 80% of the time like a true politician.

  • Same. First time trying because they were insanely cheap. They're also disgusting. Way too much fake sugar.

  • Yeah most of them are like this. That's why it's the one place where self checkout was actually an improvement. Because they never had anyone at the fucking registers before that anyway. I try to never go there but at least now I don't have to wait an eternity if I have to go there.

  • This is how the Internet has always been imo. You're running into the same trolls we've been dealing with since we first got on the fucking Internet. Some people just cannot interact with others without being rude as fuck because they're jaded assholes. So what if you've seen the same thing 80 times? Move along if you don't care.

I feel for you. Being a computer nerd in general, I've had to deal with this antisocial behavior forever. You really wonder why they even bother to go to places like this if they hate other people so much. I think it's just because they want to lord over others because that's all they have.

  • The frustrating thing was most of the mp3 players had less storage than a damn CD at first, so I just kept chugging along with that thing for quite a while. Honestly 700mb of mp3s was a pretty damn good amount.

  • That's the same amount of effort or possibly more vs just having time zones. I keep seeing people express this sentiment and I don't get how that's better having to memorize something that basically just equates to time zones lol.

Fuck DST though. Just put everyone back on standard time and leave it.

  • What are you referencing specifically? I work in payments and I've never heard of this IBM code. The card networks just use an ISO format and every front end is different (the two we have are completely different in very fundamental ways though they are definitely both old as fuck).

  • I assure you they won't. It's not going to be that expensive to only show an option if you're in California. Companies already do this with other things like privacy related stuff.

If the company is already a scumbag company that makes it impossible to cancel, this will only stop them where they have to follow a law.

  • If you wait for a good sale, digital is sometimes cheap or cheaper. I just go with whatever is cheapest at any given moment.

  • Kind of the old Windows vs Mac problem though. It gets so many exploits because it is so ridiculously popular. No one is going to bother looking for exploits in shit that no one uses right? I'm sure they've got problems like any project but I'm not convinced they're THAT bad. Not to mention a lot of exploits you see are plugins doing dumb shit, not WP itself.

  • Nah it's not that hard to make a decent burger from frozen. I don't know WTF people are doing to mess that up. You just put it on the grill and don't overcook it lol.

  • Yeah I've been using it to help my novice ass code stuff for my website and it's been incredible. There's some stuff I thought yeah I'm probably never gonna get around to this that I rocketed through in an AFTERNOON. That's what I want AI for. Not shitty customer service.

  • Thank you. I've been thinking the same thing. People keep posting things that aren't remotely close to Nova. I'm beginning to think there's just nothing else at their level. Lawnchair seems like the closest so far but it's still not customizable enough and the Google feed implementation randomly broke and I couldn't get it to work again (amongst other annoyances and performance issues).

  • I don't disagree with you. Progress is progress. I just wish it was more.

  • I dunno maybe they should be subject to more stringent rules like people at banks and such? If you can just trade your stocks right before you pass a law, what's the point of the new rule? That's part of why they're under fire in the first place isn't it? They have insider information. Saying you can't trade after the fact seems like it's too late to me. Maybe I didn't explain that well idk.
