    It's not like the company building a plagiarism tool would use said tool to plagiarize training data. That would be inconceivable.

  • I mean it depends on the context of how UBI is going to get paid for. If it is funded by a wealth tax then I am on board. But that's not how the powerful proponents of UBI say it should be funded. Andrew Yang would have us take it out of Social Security to pay for it but you don't hear him say we should uncap Social Security contributions.

    This so much. The "voters are too stupid" narrative defangs any attempt to talk about how our systems misinform (or don't inform) voters.

    I guess my point is that environment (social circumstance) and individual behavior is a gradient. Drawing a clear line between the two so that "individual behavior" is the largest share might actually be unhealthy framing as it takes out of focus how an individual might improve their circumstances.
