- Strap lock recommendations?
My Warwick strap locks have worn out and snapped off right in the middle of filming a music video..
Which strap locks did you find reliable? Afaik Schaller and Dunlop offer some, but I've never seen them in use.
- If you could build a bass in any way you desire, what would it be like?
I'm contemplating to build a bass after I'm done with my other projects, so I was wondering what specs others are into. Would you go with:
- A wax finish or color coating?
- How many strings do you prefer?
- Fretless, fretted, or even fan-fret?
- What about scale length?
So many options there. What would you do if money wouldn't matter?
- Ampsim Recommendations
I'm curious what Amp Simulators y'all enjoy and recommend.
I've been using GK Amplification 3 Pro from Audified, specifically the 800RB.

- What is something you wish you knew when you first started playing bass?
I wish I knew sooner that while fun, no piece of fancy new gear is gonna make me a better player in any way. What advice would you give to your younger self?
- What are you practicing right now?
Is there any specific song, lick or pattern you‘re working on? I‘m a bit out of my practice routine but would like to get back into it with fresh ideas. Ever since I‘ve been playing in a band, practice turned somewhat into stale song repetition, if any.
- MXR Bass Innovations Celebrates 15 Years with Blackout Series Envelope Filter and Compressor
I like the aesthetics and that the compressor has a gain reduction visualizer, but for that price they seem like collectors items. I'll stay with the onboard compressor of my Hartke amp.

- Is there software that can take tabs in pdf form and output the audio?
Hey, guys. I paid $30 for some tabs, but they're way too hard for me to work out. It's mostly the timing I'm struggling with (I'm used to yousician and songsterr telling me when to play a note) and my ear isn't good enough to work it out just from listening to the original song. Is there any software that can either output the audio or even just add a timing guide like songsterr? Thanks.
- What do you recommend for recording my bass output onto PC?
Hi, hoping you might have some recommendations! I just play for fun and I'm very much a beginner. I'm not going to make any money out of playing, so I don't want to spend loads on pro gear. I just want something cheap to record my bass playing onto my PC just for my own personal practice.
I've seen some guitar jack to USB cables on ebay. Are they any good?

- Are there any particular songs or basslines that you find yourself constantly revisiting and enjoying?
Any songs where you still find something new, even though you‘ve listened to it a hundred times already?
Can‘t come up with any right off the top of my head, although there are quite a handful of bassists like Jaco, Marcus Miller, Wooten and Evan Brewer that always impress me. What about some in a regular band?

I‘m a big fan of Josh Fosleys videos, he makes great tutorials without pushing his program too much, although I heard a lot of great things about it. Any bass player should learn how to set up their instrument not just to save money (we all know how expensive strings are, lol) but also to learn what kind of setup you desire.
Are you more on the low action side or do you prefer higher action?
