Sopuli's Default Community
- (bug) image uploads broken on sopulisopuli.xyz Privacy hostility by Mint project - Sopuli
Why is there no respect for privacy by the Mint project? When documentation was jailed in Cloudflare’s walled-garden, I took people off Mint. Today I tried to visit the mint website to see if the Tor community is still being discriminated against. Things have worsened. Now the Mint landing page is i...

- Heya! Weird experiment here for helping community/instance discovery!lemm.ee Hey, so there's a circus to your left, a carnival to your right, and a mall ahead, which way do you go? - lemm.ee
I have a funky idea, so this is both a genuine convo starter and an experiment in getting eyes & posts here, so uhh, I hope this is cool!
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/1378961
> Had a realization with the cross-posting feature, so I'm giving it a try. > > This isn't my community, nor even my home instance, and the fun idea is if this pans out as I think it should, small communities can get some attention, and each community/instance cross-posted to in turn gets some attention!
- Lemmy instanced hosted in 🇫🇮
I noted that there are 39 lemmy instances hosted in 🇫🇮, as reported by the federation info so I thought to collect them all here. An surprise to me was that the biggest of them all lemmy.world is also on some 🇫🇮 hosted service.

- multiple lemmy instances are going down to a js injection or admin password hack
lemmy.world and lemmy.blahaj.zone got hacked, admins in sopuli.xyz should enforce 2fa for admins and possibly disable/ look into possible injections from the community sidebar

- Crossposting on other instances...
Reddit refugee here, still finding my feet here but enjoying the feel so far.
Can someone clarify something for me?
I'm using the Liftoff app and am registered on Sopuli.
My understanding was that once I was resisted on an instance I'd be able to comment and interact with other instances across the Fediverse?
What I'm finding is (while in app) I find a thread on lemmy.world, I try to upvote or comment but I'm told I need to log into that instance?
Have misunderstood the mechanics of Lemmy or is something else at issue?
- let me in!
This morning, I tried to get into Sopuli, using Firefox on Puppy Linux.
Could I? No! It was rustating. I would say frustrating but I feel ironed out.
I do move between input hardware, so difficult to say what the issue was.
Sadly don't have the interest to chase it down. Just venting. Sorry!
- Can't find Kbin community?
Not entirely sure yet how Lemmy works, but I can't find functionalprint in Kbin through Sopuli. Like this works fine: https://sopuli.xyz/c/RedditMigration@kbin.social but this: https://sopuli.xyz/c/functionalprint@kbin.social does not, even though https://kbin.social/m/functionalprint exists. Anyone know why this is?
- Why I choosed Sew/So puli/pulley?
Never been much for ribbit/rabbit/read it so don't ever remember registering. I like fediverse mentality and extreme ad-minning but which lemmy lemming to jump off the cliff with?
No haters … and liked the Beaver.
Here I iz and likes it
Lots! ☑️💕❣️
- Reasons For Joining
To all of the members who didn't come from Reddit, what inspired you to join Lemmy?
- Thank you to the admin(s) who manually reviewed my application and approved my registration!
Some people think it's a drag to write a mini essay but I think it shows commitment to building a community.
- currently can't create posts?
well, ironically I try to solve this with creating a post. but also my profile shows, that I never created any posts. not sure if this is a Sopuli issue :-\
is it just me?
edit: ok, at least at Sopuli/local it's working. strange thing
- Shut down 4 more subreddits
Shut down 4 subs I used to moderate. Sure, the biggest only had 200 subscribers (didn't realise it was that high) but I'm doing my part...
- 404 when trying to access a new community?
Hi, I'm sure this is just a noob lemmy question. I saw on /c/newcommunities@lemmy.world that there's a new YouShouldKnow community: https://sopuli.xyz/post/675270
But when I search for it through Sopuli, it doesn't show up, and if I use the ! link in the top comment, it returns a 404 from sopuli. It seems the sopuli server doesn't know about the community yet, how is it supposed to find out about it? Thanks
- Disable live updates?
is it possible to disable live updates, where every so often posts are fetched and added to the top of my feed? I thought I saw a setting for it when I first was checking out lemmy before signing up but now I don't. I don't really like how I browse on the web app and it just floods my page with random posts occasionally. this doesn't seem to happen on the mobile app Jerboa
- 🐕🦺💨 Lemmy Chaser: bookmarklet to open foreign community on your native instance
With just a click, this bookmarklet will redirect you to a foreign community on your native Lemmy instance
> It brings your favourite lemmy back home!
If you don’t know what it is, it’s a bookmark that runs a small piece of code that works in all desktop or even mobile browsers
___
javascript:(function(){ var url = new URL(document.URL); var baseURL = url.hostname; var pathname = url.pathname; window.location.href="https://sopuli.xyz" + pathname + "@" + baseURL; })();
___Usage
- Copy the code, replace "https://sopuli.xyz" in the code to URL of your native instance (for example to "https://lemmy.ca")
- Create a new bookmark, paste the code from previous step into URL field
- Go to a non native lemmy community
- Click the bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar to activate it.
- I can't find !conspiracy@lemmy.ml here
I read that when you can't find a community in the server where you created your account, you just search for it with its complete name, in this case !conspiracy@lemmy.ml, then it gets fetched to sopuli and you can join. This is not working so far, is it because of a bug a temporary thing that's not working or a configuration in sopuli server?
- Can't log into other servers
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is I can use this log in with other servers. However, when I try to log in on any of the other servers the login button just spins. Doesn't tell me my password is wrong or anything else, it just spins endlessly. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding?
So. This is first post on Lemmy. I don't fully graps the concept. So, appently now I'm posting here in Sopuli... which is like a Subreddit...? But what is above that? Also english is fine but as a r/suomi refugee I was hoping for more finnish.
- Introducing c/collapse and c/fte
Hello everyone, Today I created two communities as an alternative to r/collapse and related subreddits. Climate Crisis, Biosphere & Societal Collapse - Collapse-related news & discussion and Faster Than Expected - Collapse-related memes and other silly stuff.
I would be delighted to have like-minded users join and add to the discourse there. As an RRR (recent Reddit refugee), I need a place to discuss the continuing medley of crises that we are currently experiencing. Everyone is welcome. Please keep discussion civil and respect one another.
- Any watchers of Destiny?
Are there enough people here who enjoy destiny (the streamer) to create a community for posts about his content /drama/politics?
- For those who may find it interesting reddit plans to host a discussion on their API changes, thoughts?

I have written an article on an extremely important topic. You will surely find it extremely useful!
Ipv4 users can access it with Tor Browser!
- @piracy@lemmy.ml MotherBoard PCB
@piracy@lemmy.ml Is there a place to find schematics about MotherBoards, for example the Libre Computer Le Potato or Open Compute Project's Snow Ridge, or any other. Like a big place where to find these
I know that its against the rules to open a "where can I find, does anyone have a...". But it suggests to use search bar before, which returns no results (literally nothing "https://www.lemmy.ml/c/Piracy/search/?q=motherboard%20-windows%20-xbox%20-hwidgen%20-movie%20-hwid%20-magaine%20-dongle%20-mas%20%20-softlifting&restrict_sr=1&sr_nsfw="). So a demand should be made I guess, or idk

- does f*psi.** have any worthwhile content/users or are they all trolls?
nazi/scat trolls all seem to come from a certain domain, and i've never seen any actual content from it. so why are we still federated with it?
- List of popular Lemmy communities and their alternatives
Just by checking https://lemmy.ml/communities one can see the most popular communities of lemmy.ml. The plan here is to list all the alternatives for those from other instances. One can also suggest alternatives to be added here and I update this living document.

The Sandman, the epic fantasy series on Netflix, is overwrought and under-written poppycock
Anyone else giving it a watch? I’ve linked to an article trashing it because it seems to be love / hate going on but coversely I’m digging it.
