What is your favorite obscure old hot take to ever pop up on this site? For @Civility purposes, nothing from active users, please. Also "power dynamics" isn't obscure.
I'll give mine to get the ball rolling.
There was a user that, before getting banned, declared that every single living human being alive on Earth right now should not exist because no one had the benefit of a pre-conception device on hand to somehow determine each individual's consent to exist before they started to exist.
I don't know if that take would make David Benatar blush, make David Benatar cackle with glee, or if that was posted by David Benatar himself.
I completely do not recall who said this so I can't vouch for activity or not.
But my favourite obscure hot take was during urban planning discussions and someone gave a very spirited description of how there should be absolutely no personal kitchens in apartments, so that communal canteens could be used to socially engineer the people into more virtuous cuisine choices(not primarily in terms of vegan v meat but like regional cuisines.)
Don't recall exactly the following reactions but I do think there was some revisions to the original idea after people pointed out that this would probably end up either killing people with allergies, or result in segregation based on medical conditions.
Came here to post this, they were so certain that nobody actually enjoys making their own food, they refused to acknowledge that anyone might want to make their own meals
I’ve thought for a while that if you could physically scale down dishwasher tech, it could be placed directly into the cupboards with some sort of waterproof container so that the storage place was also the washing and drying place. So when you’re done with a dish you just put it back and it washes itself
That's one hell of a castle in the sky, there, putting down mandates for what is so incredibly far from existing in the first place and somehow making a good thing into a potentially harmful thing. Good find of a take.
