Yet another person going out of their way to go right up to the water dish and gawk… perhaps if I wrote ‘wildlife water’ on the side? Or if I got a proper birdbath and put it more inside the property boundary. (Not sure whether I would have to remove it once I left though. And it would be a target for vandalism.)
A bit worried about potential problems though. Thankfully he didn’t knock it over but when he went up to it a magpie kind of flew up to him and hopped after him as he walked off. The other day someone else might have got swooped as he was loudly complaining about the birds being annoying and saying ‘X says some pr-ck in this area is f-cking feeding them’.
Now the birds were already here and would be regardless of whether I was kind to them. They live in that tree. If you got swooped it’s because you went close to their territory in breeding season!
Plus there are a lot of sketchy randos cutting through the block and a lot of them act seriously alcohol affected/aggressive/unpredictable so I don’t really care about them getting swooped. (That might be why it might have happened.) I actually wouldn’t mind if these disruptive people were deterred from my place.
I’m more just worried about stupid people having normal predictable magpie issues and me being blamed for it, or about being harassed to stop giving them water.
People here are genuinely the type to do that. To come trying to intimidate you for petty reasons and start dictating what you do on your own property.
I’d honestly rather deal with an aggressive bird because they respond to reasonable accommodations.
Not sure public or private property. I’m trying not to give doxable descriptions but it is within easy reach of drop kicks and I might have to move it to a less ideal spot
