San Francisco, the Bay Area in general, and the perimeter around it for quite a ways around is full of people claiming they are as progressive/tolerant as they come, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT violently hate unhoused people.
Try it if you're there. Ask what should be done for unhoused people and watch the hatred bubble up and they'll instead talk about what should be done to unhoused people.
Literally the rest of the US, left and right alike: "Lol San Francisco's unaffordable and homelessness is rampant."
San Francisco: "Heh, looks like someone's jealous of my good property values! What's the matter, my city too fancy for ya? Homelessness is worth it so I can feel fancy in my overpriced house btw."
One of the weirdest real quirks of Bay Area liberals is they love performative generosity. A lot. By that I mean you could probably knock on their door if you look safe enough and if you play your cards right you'll get spontaneously treated to a wining and dining extravaganza at the price of hearing their life philosophy and their heroic Main Character Syndrome story of rising to greatness through adversity.
As long as you don't at any point ask for any actual financial aid or a place to live. If you do, you're fucked.
If the government announced a plan to kill homeless people, over half of all Americans wouldn't object to it. Of those who wouldn't object, over half would cheer it on.
Of those that objected, over half would do "sure this is bad, but" wishy washy enabling arguments and let the slaughter happen outside of "have you no shame, sir? Sir?" speeches that usually work in their movies.
