Y'all people always go "be (nerd) gay, do (nerd) crimes", but then a britbong makes a video whining about it and y'all suddenly forget about your favorite mantra
I identify with the plagiarism YouTuber. I also don't care about my job and see it as just a paycheck too so I do the bare minimum to make money. Like, unitonically, that's the system we have that incentivizes us to do the least work to get paid. I'll reserve my ire for cops and landlords, not some YouTuber who is ruining the sacred art form of YouTube content by phoning it in to get paid.
Edit: I think I see what the problem is. I only watched the part about the pyramid head cartoon plagiarizing articles, I didn't even see anything about the other guy.
Plagiarizing much poorer queer authors while holding up a pretense of original research and further misinforming people when you speak off script because you don't actually do any research is bad. Dude could literally just not fuck over poorer authors writing articles on blogs and such and he'd still get plenty of money.

Exactly. Making stacks off other people's work is antithetical of the whole leftie wave we are all on. We are suppose to be openly collaborating, sharing, exchanging, coordinating, all that sort of cool stuff together. Not just private making bank and saying "I did it all myself because I"m very uniquely intelligent"
I'm trying to articulate what is arguably an even softer point politically because it to me is a stronger indictment: He could remain a full-on content mill that is just profiting off of other people's work, but give them proper credit! He'd lose some of his personal mystique, but he'd still make a lot of money while still being incredibly lazy but without fucking those other authors over!
It's settled then. I'm going to commission a Kitty Bobo vtuber model and start making videos where I just read out effort posts from Hexbear and pretend they're my own words. It's the perfect crime. 😼
You know those AskReddit content mills? Literally if you just say "this is from the website Hexbear, the user is Alaskaball" [or whoever, but he does a bunch] it is no longer plagiarism and you still have a completely viable content mill, arguably more viable because you can slingshot around ideologically without question because you are transparent that it's other people's writing.
the guy's not just getting a paycheck, he's doing pretty well and even founded a (Star Citizen-esque) movie production company, all while lifting his content from marginalized authors that often struggle financially themselves (or are dead, in some cases)

I understand where you're coming from, however I still think it's probably uncool to bite off the work of others, especially when they themselves aren't getting paid let alone being recognized for their work. Don't get me wrong I'm 420.69% all for slacking on the job and doing the most you can to figure out how to do the least you can and still get paid, get your money. However, when I think it's a slimeball move to swipe the work of other workers.
Especially when things like writing which is actually transformed by the person doing it. I don't know the Marxist term or whatever, but it seems like actual work and labor going into forming ideas and getting those ideas out into the world.
I hope I don't come as a scold or a buzzkill. Not my intention at all.
Wait wait wait, I know what's up. I only watched the part about the pyramid head guy, I watched it on HBoomer's secondary channel. I didn't even see anything about that guy.
That guy was the point of the video basically, the rest was defining terms and exploring examples of all the things this guy does to just absolutely nail him to the wall
that whole part was setup of the ways other people have been doing plagarism recently, to establish patterns and behaviors, and then the last hour and a half straight is nonstop plagarism from this fucking shithead. Its BAD
the video is 4 hours long because it mercilessly catalogues the crime so that people know just how bad this guys actions are
the second half is the actually important part. I wish he'd published it as 2 videos so people didn't bail halfway thinking it was all just punching at chuds and a bitch who's already destroyed her own career.
Did you watch the thing? I gotta say that you sound to me like someone whose going off of summary and here say and honestly if you haven’t seen it I encourage you to because it is hard to grasp from summary how insidious the behavior he exposes really is. It is certainly lazy but it’s also very exploitative, particularly to obscure queer historians and writers
Yeah, I think I watched the wrong video. I watched the one on HBoomer's second channel about some pyramid headed cartoon character, I didn't even see the video about that other guy.
that one was bad too, people found out that on top of plagiarism, she was a landlord, and on top of being a landlord, she was landlording her own employee, whom she illegally evicted and destroyed his possessions
I'd be more okay with these people phoning it in with their research if they actually credited their sources properly, most either don't at all or barely do it.
Also this isn't someone slacking at a corporate job, they're making pretty damn good money by fostering a parasocial relationship with their fans. Some are even successful enough at it they can springboard it into starting their own small business ventures meaning they're basically kulaks. And often when someone points out that their work is copy+pasted from somewhere else they sick their fandoms on them, or sometimes even get the people they copied from harassed.
