Correcting libs on CCP vs. CPC

It's tiring to tell libs that its actually CPC instead of CCP.

  • CCP = Chinese China Party (???)
  • CPC = Chinese Party of China (correct)

I'm literally going to drop kick someone who gets it wrong!!!

Thoughts? Is it worthwhile to correct people on this?

  • i tend to take the tack that it's not particularly fruitful to argue about semantics of a foreign name unless you're going to be there or interfacing directly. does the party actually care how nobody yankees refer to them? would you care what order an abbreviation of your org was in cyrillic?

    • I think since it's so low effort to switch between them that it acts as a good way to see if someone is willing to change their perspective or are stubborn. This is the least material thing though it's just annoying to hear sometimes because chuds over enunciate the first two Cs.

      • chuds would over enunciate and use CPC like a slur if it became the common parlance, that's just a matter of tone.

i can see both sides of the non chud equation though and i don't think either are worthwhile. yes if someone switches terminology for you it means they're flexible and respectful. but many people, even fellow travellers and comrades can take semantic corrections in a hostile way. focusing on spelling, grammar, naming conventions etc can be seen as ignoring or sidestepping what someone is actually trying to say.
