Because trots are the only communists who weren’t purged during the Cold War in the US.
Michael Hudson talked about working for the State Department in the 70s after Super Imperialism was published. He was worried about his Marxist background (he is Trotsky’s godson) and basically (I’m paraphrasing here) the people doing background check told him “you’re fine, you’re the ones who hate the Stalinists”.
Many Trots worked for the US during the Cold War because they hated the USSR and many became neocons and continue to hate on and instigate a war against Russia today.
PSL, DSA (not the leadership), and many others are not trotskyist. Also the US only goes after actual threats, trots historically have been the useful idiots for america in every instance.
PSL doesn't call themselves trotskyists but they do the same things trotskyists do: tailing the labor aristocracy, electoralism, nonthreatening protest, red charity, opportunistic identity politics, covering up sex pests in their org, etc.
I guess critique of PSL counts as wrecker behavior on this site, but I'm thinking of when Gloria La Riva tried to brush aside accusations of transphobia and was all "how dare you call me cis, I'm a woman of color"
I mean a barrage of unfounded accusations does seem like wrecker behavior, yeah. Idk what Gloria La Riva's alleged transphobia was or what she actually said about it, but my and other trans people's personal experiences with her directly and with the party have not given any hint of transphobia. Obviously I can totally believe that someone that old said something insensitive towards trans people, but to paint the entire party as transphobic based on that seems a little ridiculous.
