Former Vice President Dick Cheney will be crossing party lines for this election and voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, according to his daughter.
If you had told me during the Bush years that there would be a Republican so evil even Dick Cheney wouldn't vote for them I may have jumped off a bridge.
Everyone sees how romney and liz cheney (and mccain before them) was praised as "the one sane republican" and want to set themselves up to be that when trump finally croaks and they can run "moderate republicans" again.
All these fucks vote more or less in lockstep with trump and the magats outside of MAYBE one or two issues. But they just don't like that they have no power in the party anymore and that trump has repeatedly demonstrated he can't get any down ballot candidates elected.
I'd guess something like he hates that Trump and MAGA in general keep getting cozy with Russia. And they've displaced inner circle NeoCon pals along the way.
Or you've been propagandized so much that you think fucking Dick Cheney being on your side is somehow a good sign and it doesn't even give you a moment's pause. He is still an evil piece of shit and anything he is advocating for deserves at least some examination.
There’s a saying, around here people know it…some people over there may know it too… the enemy of my friend is my enemy, the enemy of my enemy is my contractually non-binding Diplomacy partner.
They're one of the people drifting around Lemmy who've been shilling the Green Party lately, never mind that their candidate is a Russian plant whose goal is to siphon away just enough votes to get Trump elected.
Lol, not even slightly. Pretty sure I've only made one comment related to the Green Party/Jill Stein and it wasn't an endorsement, but rather one made in a similar vein of poking at the lack of introspection that comes with tribalism.
No party is perfect, and I doubt one will ever exist that even comes close to that, but life goes on regardless and important decisions need to be made this cycle.
And I suppose you hate dogs, merely because Hitler loved them?
Or maybe you can acknowledge that the morality of an action is independent of the morality of the person making the action? Dick Cheney is making the morally correct decision by endorsing Harris, but that doesn't make him a good guy any more than liking dogs made Hitler one.
