Harris accepts CNN debate invitation for October 23, again challenging Trump to another showdown
Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, challenging her rival to another engagement on a public stage in the final weeks of the campaign.
I really hope she shows up whether he does or not.
I saw someone describe this as Trump’s Kobayashi Maru - if he goes, he’ll get destroyed again, but if he doesn’t go, he’ll look like he’s afraid of her.
his best play is not to go and hope that kamala does a town hall by herself and gets hit on hard questions about Palestine, inflation, etc. I was shocked he agreed to do the first debate, should have just quit after his “win” against Biden.
If he doesn't turn up I really hope at the end of the 'debate' she looks straight down the lens of the camera, points and says "Convict Trump... Pussy!"
I don't think that he's likely to do any more debates. The last one definitely hurt him in the polls, and he's been publicly making arguments as to why he shouldn't need to do any more.
If I were gonna guess, the only way that we're going to see another debate with Trump is if he somehow falls so far behind prior to the election that his campaign thinks that a win is very unlikely and is willing to try for any Hail Mary tactic that might give Trump a shot at getting his hand back in.
And in that scenario, I don't know if Harris would agree.
And there's not much time for something like that to happen.

But the Trump campaign quickly responded Saturday by reiterating the Republican’s declaration that there would not be another debate, pointing to his social media post last week that read, “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”
At a rally Saturday afternoon, Trump claimed October 23 is “just too late” because “voting has already started.”

I was listening to the speech she gave in Georgia the other day, and she is one hundred percent using her prosecuters' chops, and I love it.
The tone of her voice, the way she emphasized certain words, then repeated them 3-4 times. The way she got the audience to repeat Amber Thurmans' name and used the word preventable multiple times just before that to drive home how fucked up it is.
She is very, very good, lol.
Trump on Saturday argued it was “too late” to have another presidential debate because Americans have begun casting their ballots in the 2024 election.
Trump has no idea who votes when. He’s just looking for an excuse to say no.
I think October 23rd would be an ideal date to organize anyone with a non-disclosure agreement with Trump to break that agreement en masse and share all the details of what he doesn’t want the public to know.
It’s be great fodder for the news cycle leading up to Election Day and I doubt Trump has the resources to legally pursue so many people for NDA breaches at the same time.
We should just make that standard for every candidate, every election. No closet-skeletons allowed. That would change the entire political landscape.
