I open it to prevent the beeping. I'd press stop but that beeps too.
- Most (probably) all microwaves can be silenced. Usually by holding the "2" botton for 3 seconds.

- Same. And there is no way to turn off the beeping. So frustrating.
  
  Google the brand and/or model number of your microwave they usually can be silenced.

i just hit the 'cancel' button
I had read recently that opening the door while it's running triggers an emergency shutoff that is quicker than normal operation. Apparently this is bad for the longevity of the microwave.
- Thats what big microwave wants you to think! /s
