Fossify Phone - one of the very few open-source dialer apps for Android
A handy phone call manager with phonebook, number blocking and multi-SIM support - FossifyOrg/Phone
Idk why I never heard of this one before but it got an update recently so it appeared in my Droid-ify feed and now I'm sharing it. Hopefully someone finds it useful.
I used this for a while, but every time my phone rang I had to type in my pin to answer it which was a deal breaker for me.
5 0 ReplyHmm I'm not sure if it's the expected behavior. Probably you didn't have some permissions enabled?
3 0 ReplyCould be. I do remember trying to get it to work a number of ways at the time. If you're telling me that this isn't the case for you though, I might try it out again.

you probably heard of "simple dialer". Fossify apps are forks of simple (because simple is sold to an advertisement company)
long story short 👆

Yes, I get that people need to eat, but goddamn it man THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO GET MONEY THAN SELLING OUT.

Is there some obstacle to writing them? Special SDK privileges or anything like that? Seems like a good thing to degoogle if possible.
5 0 ReplyI have no idea but apparently nobody makes dialer apps. What's even more weird is that SMS and contacts apps are way less rare.
6 0 Replyplease tell me if you find any open source MMS apps (was more relevant pre RCS, but I still want to see how to actually do it)
2 0 ReplyContacts and dialer should maybe be merged. It's nice to be able to call someone and make notes in that person's contact page during the call.
