Gosh, I never knew he did a commencement speech. Watterson has always been someone I look up to. His work is still so inspirational to how i want to approach life and work. He's the real deal and I salute that he did his work his way, and not the way the suits wanted. This speech reinforces all of that.
Good number of heavy lines to understand from his speech. "Most of us discover where we were headed once we arrive".. a philosophy I've built out of that was trying new things even when I thought I'd found the best, new places, restaurants, ideas.
Life's all about the experiences, even the ones far off the beaten path.
This was a good read. Anyone who'se purchased any of his anthologies will be familiar with some of the content, but the appeal to live a fulfilling life and how hard that can be as you get older was refreshing.
