Yes, because they want to believe it. It confirms their prejudices about muslims and aligns with the goals of western politicians/media (as in wanting to see palestinians and all muslims eradicated). After this i am fairly sure about this. Like, this would be a non-story if one of the participants weren't the supporters of an Israeli team. Like its a monthly, if not weekly occurrence in Europe that fans of a football team go fuck shit up in another city and then get hunted down. It was known that Maccabi fans fucked shit up on wednesday. Like, the information was available. Yet, western politicians and media CHOSE to ignore it and go with the "pogrom" line. This is absolutely, 100% deliberate.

Just show them the video evidence.

Also explain that associating the actions of Israel, which include bombing children, with jewishness is just blood libel with extra steps.
