Cause fuck 'em, thats why
Exactly. Apparently this is a feature. And I find it to be absolutely fucking fantastic because fuck the police. Anything that makes their job harder is worth doing.
That’s what a lot of people say until they’re in need of some police action then it’s all about “why aren’t the police doing their jobs!?”
For the record I’m 100% against illegal searches. Court orders should be required to look at personal devices.
That said, I volunteer with cops in Canada and find them to be very professional. Saw a female officer working with a non-white individual high on drugs at a hospital and she kept the person calm and relaxed by reading a book to them as you would a child. Totally worked.
Confirmed as a security feature in 18.1 btw https://chaos.social/@jiska/113447894119816217
Huh, this is pretty interesting. I wonder if there's a way to set an Android device to auto-reboot if it hasn't had a network connection or been unlocked after a preset length of time.
I saw something like that pop up on my android (Lineage) the other day.
How long are we talking about?
All mine have needed a pin code login every few days, regardless of how often I've used it.
It's an option on the latest Android - anti-theft measures. It reboots / locks your phone if it detects grab and go activity - using your phone and thief grabs your phone and runs. It also does it if the internet is turned off.
