iOS 17 voice dictation very slow
Since the update to iOS 17 the voice dictation on my iPad 6th gen is very slow. It lags several sentences behind and even when I tap the microphone icon to stop it, it needs another five to ten seconds to finish the text. The longer the text, the longer the time to finish the text. All was fine before the update. Have you experienced the same?
well, I’m currently on an iPhone 10 and it is on the latest update of iOS 17.0.1 and it seems like it’s following my dictation fairly well. I can speak a very long sentence and it seems to keep up perhaps only half a second or so behind the words I speak such as this sentence which I am dictating into my phone through the MLEM app.
The speed is okay on my iPhone 12 but not on my iPad. I have just experienced that it is faster when I dictate in English. My mother tongue is German, though. If I switch the keyboard back to German the dictation speed is dead slow. It lags behind four or five sentences even when I speak slowly.
I’m on an iPhone XR and can’t replicate the slow dictation in German. It is about 1-2 words behind even when I’m dictating quickly. Are you on 17.0.1 already? The update fixed battery drain and heating issues for me. I assume something was not quite right after updating to 17 on my phone and the .1 update fixed it.
But has the accuracy changed at all?
No, it is just incredibly slow. I am going to reset the iPad and set it up as a fresh device in a few days. I need the dictation function very often and the current situation is unbearable.
