In case you haven't been to a library in a while (yes I know this post is a joke) they do way more than just books these days. Depending on the library you'll get music, movies, videogames, computers, photography equipment, 3D printers, laser cutters, audio visual equipment, recording studios, meeting rooms, and probably other shit I'm forgetting about. Smaller libraries are obviously more likely to stick to the basics, but my suburban library where I used to live had nearly everything I mentioned.
I moved to a bigger city last year and checked the library out yesterday. They have sooo much stuff. CDs, DVDs, games and all the devices you need for playback (which you can also lend). It's amazing.
Once I get my stupid ID back I'm gonna rip a fuckton of CDs from there.
My local library and state library network don't have books on topics like anarchism and communism, so I still end up buying books
(I know I could read them online free, but I find it much more pleasant to lie in bed and read a book vs. squinting at my phone, and I try to pass them on to someone else when I'm finished)
Here in OZ, many people have little "book houses" in the front garden, near the foot path. "Take a book, return a book" is the request, so if you have a book youre done with, drop it off in one of these that has something else your interested in.
