My wake up alarm is the cuckoo clock.
Sometimes I hear a real one in public and you're so right.

Especially when it is my on call helpdesk ring tone. I'll instantly pull harder thousand yard stare than Cillian Murphy on my face.
- That's exactly why I set a custom, selfrecorded ringtone as my on call ringtone. I had used a default one prior, but after a few small heart attacks, it was a no brainer.
  
  I actually do this with my notification sound too, but never got around to making a ringtone. Very few people call me to my personal, and I don't want to bother with the work phone since I'll just end up hating that sound no matter what it is.

I used to have the FF7 battle music as my ring tone. Because phone calls were random encounters. Certain ones got the boss battle music instead.
Hearing that randomly in public from someone else's phone would have made me excited to see a kindred spirit. Closest I ever did see was someone using the victory music, but that would have been more appropriate as a hang up tone.
I should do that again. It's funny because I think it was moving to a new phone and not wanting to figure out how to set custom ring tones that made me put it off until I forgot it, even though the phone that had it was a flip phone that I had to use a special connector to even hook it up to my PC and had to find a program to encode the song in the arcane format used by dumb phones and the phone that replaced it probably just needed me to drop the songs into the right folder or find out how to browse the file system when setting ring tone.
Edit: Just checked, out of curiosity.
On my graphene os phone, they have a list of ring tones it comes with and at the bottom of the list is a plus that opens up the file system browser.
On my Samsung phone, it's just a list. There's a plus at the top but that opens up some Samsung music app or something that I've never used. It looks like I can add songs to that by putting them in a samsung music folder, though I did have to look twice to see that and wouldn't be surprised if it only shows approved files that came from them, knowing what Samsung is like with software.
Separate rant but the other day I looked in the bixby settings and noticed there was a button to remove it entirely, so I did so, thinking I might finally get full control of that button. Nope, even less control now, it just launches a "install Bixby" screen instead of letting me set some other action for some of the presses (as long as one of them still opens the voice assistant I don't want and never asked for).
- For some time I had FF6 boss battle theme for a ringtone.
- About the Bixby button thing, I think that newer Samsungs are doing it better. They have the default power button hold action set to open Bixby, but it is reconfigurable in the settings to the normal power menu. Weird that it defaults to Bixby, but at least it won't be a physically useless button once you unbind it.

I hate when they do it in movies and the character takes so long to wake up and turn it off. I can feel my blood pressure rise the longer it goes.

Our on-call software apparently causes iphones to play the same sound as an earthquake alert here in Japan. Coworkers have had some literal ptsd-like experi nces and gotten shocked reactions when it goes off in public (at least by default, the sound is on).
On Android I just get some piddly 'ding' I have to set to retrigger as it won't even wake me up.

I once made the mistake of setting Pushing Me Away by Linkin Park as my wake-up alarm.

this doesnt happen to me, i USA cool ringtones nobody else seems to knoe exist? apparently its not common to change your ringtone.

could be worse. you could pick a song you like as your alarm tone, and panic when u driving listening to your ipod or spotify.

I set timers for my work, this is only my last 3 hours shift and I have 5 of them.

For an 8 hour shift I'll get like 15+ alarms 😅

I hate every song I've used as a ringtone except my current one, which has been the helldivers theme since basically the launch of the game. It's just too damn good.

  Yeah, of course you can.
  I use this for mine since it starts quiet and ramps up. If I'm awake it's not startling, if I'm asleep it'll wake me when the woman starts singing.
  
  But you don't want to change your tones. Most people have separate ones for each type of set alert. Let's you know what the alert is without looking
